Description & Details

The Major McCollough Collection

An Appointment-Only Estate Sale | The Cabin Collection
February 18–21 | By Appointment Only

This sale represents the first chapter in the liquidation of the Major McCollough Collection—a deeply personal, scholarly, and carefully assembled body of work formed over decades by a serious student of Americana, Native American art, folk traditions, and material culture.

Major McCollough was not a decorator, a trend follower, or a casual accumulator. As an archeologist who studied around the world and spent the majority of his time as TVA archeologists, Major had a love for cultures, craftsmanship, and  & history. He collected slowly, deliberately, and with respect—for living artists, historic traditions, and objects made to be used. His eye favored authenticity over perfection, honest wear over restoration, and cultural integrity over flash.

The Cabin Collection is an intimate and revealing beginning. It reflects how Major lived with objects. Some pieces are serious, some utilitarian, and some delightfully whimsical—but all were chosen with intention.

What You’ll Find

  • Southwestern Native American pottery (including Acoma, Zia, Santa Clara, and related Pueblo work)
  • Americana and folk art with strong surface, form, and history
  • Objects showing authentic age, use, and handwork
  • Arts & Crafts Mission Furniture including GUSTAV and L&JG Stickley
  • Art & Pieces acquired directly from artists, regional sources, and long-trusted relationships

This is not a bulk liquidation. It is a curated offering for collectors, students, and those who value material culture and provenance.

Sale Format

  • By appointment only
  • Small, controlled groups
  • No early entry
  • Purchases available once the sale opens

This structure is intentional and allows visitors the time and space to experience the collection as it was assembled—thoughtfully and without rush.

Important Notes

  • Pricing reflects quality, condition, and authenticity
  • Some items may be reserved for future phases of the estate
  • Additional chapters of the Major McCollough Collection will follow after the Cabin Sale in Chattanooga

This sale marks the beginning of a larger story. We invite you to take part in its first chapter.

Appointments required.
