Whether you bid with us or another auction company, here are a few things every bidder should know before placing a bid.

First, understand the buyer's premium. This is an additional percentage added to your winning bid and becomes part of your final purchase price. Always review the auction terms before bidding so you know exactly what fees apply.

Next, KNOW THE PICKUP REQUIREMENTS before bidding. Make sure you can attend the scheduled pickup, understand what you'll need to bring, and arrange any necessary help for loading large items. Shipping is available on qualifying items only. If you need shipping, or think you may need a special pickup arrangement, contact us BEFORE the scheduled pickup begins. We can SOMETIMES accommodate alternate pickup times for an additional fee, but these arrangements must be made in advance.

Understand how a max bid works. A max bid is simply the highest amount you're willing to pay. The system only bids enough to keep you in the lead, increasing automatically as needed. Many winning bidders pay far less than their maximum bid.

Finally, know how a soft close works. Lots do not all close at once. If a bid is placed during the final two minutes on any lot, that lot is extended by another two minutes, giving everyone a fair opportunity to place a counterbid.
