Second verse, better than the first! My indefatigable crew and I have been working this week, helping our client empty the never-ending storage rooms. I swear since our last time out there, the boxes have had a party and reproduced exponentially. Each time we think we are done, another storage room is discovered and the treasures come spilling forth like a scene out of Raiders of the Lost Ark, minus snakes, scorpions and skeletons. The boys and I are working like the coal shovelers on the Titanic, emptying these massive storage rooms and bringing more of this fantastic hoard to light for the first time in decades. (Four and a half huge storage rooms to go, folks.) The next few months are going to be amazing. We will continue doing this, and having sales of these contents, for the foreseeable future. As I may have mentioned and discussed previously, ad nauseam, these folks were collectors for 40+ years. He was first the State Archeologist, then director of the Texas Historical Commission for years. Their enormous single-family estate is still months away from being emptied. Scores and scores of boxes, with contents wrapped in decades-old newspapers keep turning up, as if by magic. The sales gallery has been completely emptied and all new things brought in. We did retain a few of the pieces that were largely hidden in the last sale and a couple other things I really like, but the rest was sent to donation, etc. to benefit those in need. This is, otherwise, all previously unseen stuff! This sale contains oddities, tools, tools and tools, 100s of beautiful, fantastic coffee table art books, China sets, Mexican pottery from the 60s and 70s, kitchen accessories, glassware, antiques. All this and more has been un-earthed. Trunks! All the things are here. Need a vintage, brand-new, unworn Dashiki like Mrs. Roper’s? We have some fantastic ones. Find super groovy stuff and cool bric and brac. So many things! We also have a couple upcoming house sales as well that will knock your socks off. As it happens, this particular sale will be again held in the lovely back showroom of my friend Dennis Ambrose’s beautiful shop, Vin.Taj, on Burnet Road. He has graciously made this wonderful space available to us to hold this sale as our clients had no venue of their own. Dennis is great. The back gallery space, where we hold these sales, is fun. Also, if you’ve not been to Ambrose Vin.Taj before, this is your chance to experience this lovely shop. There’s even a big store-wide sale on our estate sale weekend! Don’t miss out! Our sale is this weekend! Saturday, Jan. 19, 11-3pm, and Sunday, Jan. 20, 11-3pm. The place is STUFFED with wonderments. Come see us! Wear your longjohns. It may be chilly! 5202 Burnet Road inside Ambrose Vin.Taj. The usual rules apply! Park courteously. Overflow parking can be found fairly readily. Cash or card. No early birds or peekers! See you soon! | | |
