3500 actual miles – Documented!!

VIN# 1GBGC34M0DV114050

This is the type of vehicle that the Barrett-Jackson auctions are famous for – an extremely low mileage, documented vehicle which has been given a gentle custom restoration. It is and has always been a totally rust-free vehicle, and has less than 100 “test miles” since completion.

The truck was purchased new by the US Air Force from Carter Chevrolet, Okarche, OK and delivered to the Plattsburg AFB in New York on 9-14-84. It was originally dressed in camouflage paint.

The pickup was ordered as a cab and chassis equipped with a stainless steel tank, pumps, etc., for the purpose of hauling demineralized water from the hanger to the flight line for the Strategic Air Command B52s. Please note the original purchase price on the Bill of Sale, attached. The truck was declared surplus and sold in 2001 to a local dealer from whom I purchased it.

My restoration started in...2007 in my own shop and it is now finally complete. Since the tank and pumps were gone when I purchased it, I proceeded in a different direction.

Exterior upgrades include updating the grill to dual headlights and chrome front bumper. I added Silverado trim and medallions. I finally located a pristine period correct bed that completed a C30 series pickup totally without rust. The paint is Dupont ChromaBase 3P0 Super Red V with 1D4 Titanium Silver accent stripes.

Being a former drag racer, I couldn’t help but add some pep to the 350 V8 with only 3029 miles. I also wanted to take a look inside the pan and it looked just like new – clean as a pin. Two sets of numbers are stamped onto the block, V0308USF and CDV114050.

I installed a Comp Cam Extreme Energy Hydraulic cam, 262 degrees – 270 degrees, 462/469 lift with hydraulic lifters. I installed roller rocker arms and drive it all with Acura drive adjustable timing gears.

Ignition is fired by 50,000-volt coil.

All of this is...cooled with a high output water pump and new radiator.

I installed an Edelbrock polished intake manifold and topped it with a 600 CFM polished Edelbrock Carburetor (#1406-2555). Hooker headers, 3-inch Flowmaster mufflers and aluminized exhaust provide its melodious tones.

All of this is supplemental to the heavy duty brute this truck was originally built to be. Per the MSO (Manufacturers Statement of Origin) shown in the photos, the truck was rated at 9000 GVWR, including its original water tank, pumps and piping. Now, with only the weight of the current standard bed to deal with, and with the Turbo 400 transmission and 4.10 rear axle ratio it is well equipped to handle anything required of a serious tow vehicle. And in spite of the serious pile of rear springs, the ride is surprisingly compliant and comfortable. The hitch is a new Drawtite 8000# unit.

The wheels are American Eagle 16 x 8 aluminum, and the tires are Firestone Transforce ATs 265/75R16, both brand new...As you can see in the photos, the interior has been re-done with a gorgeous custom seat, new carpeting and paint. The dash is excellent. All of the rubber door seals and all window guides and felt are new.Sale Picture
