Description & Details

We have many very fine items in this sale.  The descriptions on the pictures are, for the most part, from the household insurance inventory.  We do have many books, records, kitchen items, clothing, linens, glass, china and other usual household items.  Many of the items pictured are very fine and we look forward to showing them.

Because of where this Amana frig is located I could not get a very good picture of it but I hope you can see enough to know that it is a nice one.Massive carved chest of Mexican cedar. It has iron hardware and full releaf caryatids carved on each end. It is 55x23x30 and is believed to be from Mexico and c. 1934.Framed Jacobean style chest in oak. it has carved into the front the motto "WHERE THY TREASURE IS THERE SHALL THY HEART BE" It is 52x31x30, is English and c. 1910-1925.Lovely Orential style coffee table is 46x28x12.This picture after the painting of Frans Hals' "LAUGHING CAVALIER" IS IN PETIT POINT AND MEASURES 15X21 PLUS THE FRAME. iT IS FROM pORTUGAL AND IS C. 1965-1970.vERY NICE SOFA THAT IS 92" LONG. iT WAS RE-DONE NOT TOO LONG AGO.The next 11 pictures are of the Steinway and sons piano. This view of the piano shows the key board and lets you see it with the top closed. Here we see the Model B Serial Number 241350 pianoforte with the lid up. Notice that it has the original ebonized finish. It is approximately 7'.Again you can see the keyboard and piano with the lid up. Note the matching chair with it.I took this picture to let you see the inside of the piano showing the name and so on..This lets you see more of the inside. We are not experts on pianos but we have looked at the sound board and can see no cracks or damage there.Massive carved and framed cabinet in Mexian cedar. It has shelves in it and measures about 77x49x19. The household inventory lists it as from Mexico and c.1934. It appears to me that they must have gotten a number of furniture items from Mexico at that time because this circa date keeps croping up.These midcentury chairs with cain in the back may need a little TLC but they are nice. There are 3 side chaird and one host's chair. The host's chair has a leg missing and the others have various dings. Here are two Oriental styled end tables. Each is approximately 30x20x20. You can also see a pair of brass or brass finish table lamps. These lamps are high quality as is almost everything at this sale.If you need a good solid refectory table , this is it. It is in oak, is heavely carved and has massive turned bulbous legs. It is approximately67x31x30 and is Englishc. 1910-1925.I love drop leaf tables whether they are drop leaf or gate leg. This one is in cherry and measures about 55x48x29. It is a true gate-leg with two moving legs. The inventory lists it as American and c.1830-1840 and I agree. There are two of these iron and brass corner shelves. They are about 6' high and 29" at their widest part. They are nice enough to go in the house and solid enough to use on the patio. We have several chairs with ottamans so pick your color and come pick one up.All you need is a big parrot to go in this bird cage. The cage measures about 50" tall and 27" at its widest part. It is iron and has just the right amount of rust to give it the right patina.I am not sure whether Aimee would call this brutallist or not. We don't see any nails but it looks to this dumb old chemistry teacher like it is from the same kind of mind. The artist did not put it on the blue background or in the frame so you can remove it if you wish. We were told that the artist was Stewart Mitchell but we could not find where it was signed.Even I would think that this is brutalist because the handel of the halberd is made of nails brazed head to head and point to point. Other parts seem to be copper and brass or bronze. This piece like the one before was not mounted in the frame by the artist and appears to be very easy to remove. If you follow us you know that I love religious art so I love this one and another in this sale. I am not sure why an old Baptist likes this stuff but I do. This is oil on copper and is an un-named female saint. She has a dagger pointed to her breast. Perhaps you know who she is. It is 10x13 plus the mahogany frame. The inventory lists it as Spanish Colonial (Mexico) c.1775-1800. I think she is great. This art glass dolphin (Jon says it doesn't look like a dolphin to him but you know how we antique dealers are in what we say) has controlled bubbles in the base and lovely colors in it. It is 16" high and is from Italy. The other two pieces in the photo are believed to be Itanian also. The art glass cone has the controlled bubbles and no mark. The center "tumbler" has a mark that looks like a crown with perhaps a harp under it. It has a frosted profile of someone who looks like T.Jefferson. That's all I can tell you right now. The piece to the right has mother of pearl on the top and turquoise cabs on the sides. It appears to be silver but is not marked. Here we go with another "dolphin". This one is very heavy brass and stands about 23" tall. Don't tell Jon that I called it a dolphin or he will be on me again.Pottery sculpture of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza by Cacciapuoti in polychrome glazes. It is modern, from Italy and has some slight damage to the hand of one of the figures. Here is the other piece that I like. Oval oil painting on copper of an un-named male saint with a large standing crucifix resting on his sholder. Inscribed on the back is "POR PAN FITO DIAS/ANO DE 1678". The 6 3/8 inch tall oval is mounted in a gilt-bronze frame with a large eyelet for hanging. Spanish Colonial (Mixico) c. 1678.Russel Wright pottery. We always price china, glass and potter by the piece because we find that we rarely have complete sets. This is a rush seat, ladder back chair. Some of the rush is broken but it is usable "as is" or I will loan you a book on doing rush seats. The hanging curio above the chair will just fit that place in your home.I thought I could get the color in the picture but it didn't work so you will have to come to see the deep purple (name for a song?) of this punch bowl. It is not marked but is very nice. It is on a stand as you can see so it would make a great tall center piece or you could take it off the stand for a shorter one. There are 7 cups. This we will sell as a set.The table cloth is so busy that the stems got lost. They are gold trimed and some have green and gold. We have salad plates that match both patterns. If you like pink luster we have just what you need. This LALIQUE bowl is frosted crystal with sparrows and foliage. It is 9 1/4" and is modern French. In the '60's silver banded glass became popular. Here we have a great deal of it.Victorian furniture is a favorite of Donna and me. This is a very nice walnut side chair with a pierced splat and crest rail. It has sabre legs and needle point seat.China cabinet in cherry measures about 44x20 at the waist and stands about 69" tall. American c.1840.Rectangular wall looking glass or mirror in a broad Mexican cedar carved frame. it is 21x37 Mexico c.1934. see the next picture for a better view of the credenza. This small RENAISSANCE credenza is in walnut. It has a single freize drawer and a cupboard below enclosed by a pair of panel doors. There are two CARYATIDS carved on each side. It is 29x14x32, is from italy and dates to the early seventeenth century. One of a pair of oriental wall hangings. The second of the pair of oriental wall hangings.Walnut finish day bed.Spool bed of cherry. American c. 1870-1880.Wooden desk. Need a word processor? This is a good chest of drawers. It has 5 drawers and measures 34x18x49.Sofa/Loveseat is 62" long.Chineser painting on silk it is 42x20 exclusive of boarder and frame, From China c. 1920-1937. There appears to be foxing on it.This oak book or bible stand is two sided. It is 19"tall and 16" wide plus the two bronze candle sticks on the sides. The washer is a Kenmore and the dryer is electric Whrilpool. Some very nice bar-ware.
