The Estate of Campbell Burgess Read

Mr. Read was an internationally known mathematician and statistician. Born in Edinburgh in 1931 he was educated at the Edinburgh Academy, Corpus Christi College at Cambridge and received his Ph.D in mathematical statistics from the University of Illinois. He taught at the American University of Beirut, in Ankara, Turkey and was a professor of statistics at SMU for 30 years. He was an activist for social justice, avid birder, world traveler, photographer and as a member of the Dallas Audubon Society, World Wildlife Fund, International Crane Foundation, Texas Nature Conservancy and the Texas Committee on Natural Resources, he was intensely zealous about wildlife conservation.
