Swann Estate Sales
Description & Details
A real time-capsule once in a lifetime sale. We’ve been working for weeks and are still finding things (great things) hidden in cabinets in the garage. Today I found tons more original art cleverly hidden away. Never let hoarders build their own house with ample storage space. THEY WILL FILL IT UP.
Here’s a brief history of the family and house: Dad was born in 1910. Mom in 1912. They built this house in 1956 and lived here until they died. There was one son born in 1948. He lived here until his recent death. Dad was a military man (retired as a Major) who became an accountant and an office efficiency expert. Mom was highly educated, intellectually curious, and became an elementary school teacher. The son wanted to be an artist and in my opinion had real talent. He was also a musician. He was a drummer in the UT Longhorn band starting in 1966 and had his own band starting in the early 70s. He also taught computer science at El Centro for many years. He had a passion for electronics and computers. Over 50 pieces of equipment and tons of computer add-ons and wires etc. When we first began working, everything that wasn’t in closets, cupboards and cabinets was in floor to ceiling boxes. You won’t believe how much is in this house. And they all three had an aversion to throwing anything out. If it was printed on paper, they saved it. You ephemera people are going to think you’ve arrived in the Promised Land. Mom and Dad indulged their son and bought him tons of toys and board games. It looks like he never actually played with them. Most still in their boxes. An AMAZING collection.
Looks like the weather may not cooperate. Do your anti-rain dance and hope for the best. We’re going to have to limit the number of people in the house. I hate to do that, but ….
We’re selling Thursday 10-4, Friday 10-4, Saturday 10-4. Sunday we’ll be there 11-4 for furniture removal, last minute sales etc. Come by Sunday and see what’s going on.
I’m not going to be able to do my usual exhaustive list of items in this sale. No time. I’m including a few pictures and will add more tomorrow.
THIS IS A SALE YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS!!!
