Just Let Lynn Do It!
Description & Details
This week we are in the University Manor neighborhood close to Abrams and Skillman. If books are what you are looking for, stop here first. There are 84 linear feet of books! We have everything from Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys to National Geographic; fiction to non-fiction, something for everyone. You will also find High School and College yearbooks and a great selection of Ivy League memorabilia.
As you enter the home, you find yourself in a large living area containing furniture from antique to modern. There is an antique 2-door glass front curio cabinet filled with silver-plated serving pieces. There is a mirrored hall tree, a plaid, fabric covered sofa and matching chair, don’t overlook the accordion! You will find a set of nesting tables along with end tables, lamps and decoratives. Throughout the house there is art hanging on all walls; from original, to prints, to photographs, including original photos of Naval vessels. In the photographic realm, we also have boxes of slides, slide viewers, cameras and projectors.
The furniture is not limited to the front living area. Throughout the home you will find an antique English drop-leaf table with matching sideboard, an antique English round table with ladder-back chairs, Mission furniture to include end tables and coffee table. There are blue fabric covered chairs and a hard to find chaise lounge to match. Don’t miss the small mahogany display case with shelves below. Scattered about you will also find some Early American pieces. Upstairs is where the king-size Maple bedroom suite lives. Be sure to take a look at the 2 cedar chests upstairs and the antique bassinette too. Check out the oak cabinets that are reproductions of an old “ice box”. Remember going to the “beauty shop” and sitting under the dryer? Well, we have a free standing vintage hair dryer. Returning downstaird, be sure to see the Campfire girls beaded vests and dress. They are in the same closet as the pair of child’s lederhosen, complete with socks! And you can’t miss the petticoats!
We have filing cabinets, IBM Selectric typewriter and more binders than you can imagine. Did you see the Compucorp 445 Statistician? These can be found in the Office. Since Christmas is always “just around the corner” now is the time to start purchasing your 2016 decorations. We have nutcrackers of all sizes and 3’ tall toy soldiers among the decorations in the Holiday room. There is more than just Christmas decorations. Easter, July 4th, Halloween are all represented here.
The kitchen and bar area have a great assortment of crystal and china. Blue and White abound in this home with a set of china by Blue Danube. Also, there is a set of Christmas porcelain ware “Ribbons & Tree” and a set of “Yule Tide” Christmas dishes. Cookware by Revere is offered in many sizes and it’s circa early 1960. All sorts of vintage kitchenware can be found. Several items you might find hard to live without! The bar area is where you will find a wonderful assortment of Military mugs.
Along the way you will see a wrought iron baker’s rack, a great wrought iron planter with an ivy design and also a set of French doors and yes, we have a washing machine.
A great assortment of treasures can be found here. Don’t miss out!
