Description & Details
Welcome to the estate sale of artists Ken Havis and Vernon Banister located in Denton, Texas.
The home affectionately known among the Metroplex art
community as the “No Museum,” was the site of numerous art installations, events,
and parties. Ken would invite his classes for a tour of the home every semester.
Ken Havis, a Vietnam Veteran, served as the Director of the UNT Gallery and was
recognized as an important Texas Artist. Ken died of AIDS in 1993 at the height of
his prolific career. His lifelong friend, Vernon Banister, inherited the No Museum,,
preserved the contents, and continued to expand the multiple collections. Vernon
Banister was a 911 first responder who worked for FEMA for more than 20 years
while continuing to curate art. Vernon passed in 2021 from health complications due to his toxic exposure from 911.
The estate sale includes work by local artists as well as vast collections of figurines,
quilts, glassware, African and Americana art, Wagon wheels, buttons, beads,
furniture and anything interesting and unusual.
Besides the house we have four tents packed full of treasures. The home is small and packed so not a lot of room to move around. We will have to limit the number of shoppers in the house at one time, most likely 10-15 at a time. Thank you for understanding and your patience.
Parking will be in the field next to the home, please pay attention to directional signs.
