HOUSTON, TEXAS – JANUARY 23rd— An estate sale from the Houston residence of the late Mildred Yount Manion II, heiress from a beloved Texas oil family who also founded Kentucky’s Spindletop Horse Farm, is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23 through Saturday, January 26 in the Galleria area of Houston. The sale is open to the public and featured items from the sale may be viewed at http://www.jrestates.com.
The heiress, Mildred Yount Manion II, was the daughter of Ed and Mildred Yount Manion, and maternal granddaughter of Miles Frank and Pansy Yount, of Yount-Lee Oil Company of Beaumont, Texas, made successful by the “http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/dos03 in the 1920s. Cherished items from Spindletop Farms, inherited by Mildred from her grandmother, headline this magnificent estate containing important pieces from the Yount family.
Judy Robinson, of Judy Robinson Value Services and Estate Sales, a 30-year veteran auctioneer and estate sales expert, is coordinating the sale. “We cannot talk about Spindletop without remembering the very roots of the Texas Gulf Coast oil business” said Robinson. “The richness of its history is exemplified in the items we’re selling during this event,” she added.
The estate sale items from Mildred’s Houston home include fine art, porcelain, crystal, Tiffany and Gorham sterling, lighting, clocks, mirrors, painted furniture, antiques and an American library of leather bound books and Persian rugs. The collection of fine art and objects of virtue contain original pieces once showcased at Spindletop Farm. Family treasures from Mildred’s maternal grandmother Pansy Yount, which were of particular importance to Mildred, are also included in the sale.
Long-time Houstonians may remember when possessions from Pansy’s estate were auctioned across the Rice University Football Field, with an audience of 25,000 plus in attendance. Pansy raised American Saddlebred horses in Beaumont; upon the death of her husband Miles Frank Yount, she moved to Lexington, Kentucky and built Spindletop Farm.
