Ollie Booker of Aunt Ollie's Gifts and Imports has decided to move to Mexico. In order to make this happen a reduction in inventory must occur in addition to selling personal mementos of her travels, furnishings and antiques that will not make the move. For nearly twenty years, Ollie has been visiting Central American Countries including Honduras and El Salvador. Ollie's imports are from Peru, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and many other Latin American countries as well.
Vivid and beautiful hand-made Clothing in Hondurian colors and designs abound as well as bedding and dining linens.
Among inventory included in the sale you will find wooden crosses handpainted with "primitive scenes" as well as "Rapture" scenes by an inmate in an Honduras prison. There are also baskets from Honduras with ideas and background from our own American Indians incorporated into Honduran design.
One of the most popular items are the "NACIMIENTO" sets. At Christmas time all over Central America people put up nacimientos in homes, churches and business's instead of Christmas trees. These are true folk art and each one is made by hand .
A talented and celebrated seamstress from El Salvador is represented by her line of dolls made from material scraps known as " THE PEOPLE OF SALVADOR"
For over 20 years Ollie has been visiting Central American Countries. These adventures began as a member of various volunteer teams sponsored by St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Seguin to provide human and medical services to villages in Honduras.
Having participated in one of these pilgrimages several years ago in another city and through another denomination I cannot begin to tell you how inspirational an experience such as this can be.
Please join us by attending this sale if nothing else than to travel to another country and life style through some one else eyes.
