Description & Details

** 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 - 1 of 562 ever produced **

The 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 is quite possibly the most historically important American made car ever built. While clones of this iconic race-winner are prevalent in auto shows across the world, only 562 1965 GT350s were ever produced. However familiar you might be with the 1965 GT350, chances are you've never seen the real deal.

Under the tutelage of its namesake Caroll Shelby, the GT350 won international endurance races at Daytona and Sebring and cemented Ford Mustangs as racing vehicles deserving of the same amount of respect as their gaudier European competitors. This GT350 chassis number 5s-192 was one of the earliest GT350s produced, affording it the opportunity to be hand-built at Shelbys Venice Beach production facility. Its outfitted with a 4-speed transmission and the aptly coined Cobra hi-riser engine that provided the car with some of the best handling in the industry at the time. The GT350's battery is located in the trunk, which is an eccentricity typical of many vehicles from this era. Additionally, the 5s-192 is painted with Le Mans top stripes reminiscent of the race that forever imprinted the 1965 GT350 in the annals of automaker history.
