Description & Details

We welcome you to an exceptional sale, this one divided into three days for the first phase and two days for the second phase, spread over two weekends, in the residence of a living artist, Judy O'Brien.  You can look up her data on-line by typing "Judy O'Brien artist".  We are privileged to be asked to do this sale.  We have over 130 of her painting, along with her easels, show display walls/mounts, art supplies.   You will have the rare opportunity of standing in an artist's studio, seeing where she worked, touching her paint supplies, walking through her storage rooms of supplies and unframed paintings (all for sale), also having the opportunity to purchase one or more of her limited edition prints.

Judy O'Brien's art styles are predominantly impressionist with some interest in abstracts, mostly acrylics on canvas or artist board.  The paintings range in size from 5"x 7" to 2'h x 5'w, also one triptych inspired by Monet's water lilies paintings.  Her color range is wide, varying between brilliant colors and subdued ones, some very much in tone with the subject matter.  Many of her paintings exude what I call "edible colors" like chocolate brown, mint green, raspberry red.  Upon entering the main gallery room (living room), you will be bedazzled by three rows of paintings hanging on the largest wall, followed by others hanging throughout the condo.  Themes include outdoor scenes with or without people, two portraits, abstracts.  You will discover prints done by other artists as well.  Her signed/numbered limited edition prints we have set out on a table in the sunroom.

Pricewise, you will find something you can afford beginning at $90 as well as more expensive ones if you would like to splurge and also have the space to accommodate one or more of her larger paintings.  Our pricing/selling procedure for this particular sale is to offer everything at tagged price the first day, followed by 25% off the second day, and 50% off the third day.  The second weekend we will offer 65% off on Saturday and 85% off on Sunday.  We have put a tracking number plus price tag on all of the framed items.

In addition to the artwork and art supplies, you will have the opportunity to buy family antiques that include English pewter plates (one dated in the 1700s) and two VERY RARE ink stands, oil lamps,  band boxes, cupboard, blue/white spatterware, child's high chair, chest of drawers, and bed with beautifully turned posts.  We have put the British "blue onion" pattern plates/bowls/casseroles on the antique pine table. They are in particularly good condition.  Vintage items include a "Jenny Lind" ceramic dinnerware pattern, lanterns, glass art. We decided to put the three vintage carpets on the carpet in the sun room.  In the kitchen you will find modern cookware, serving ware, eating ware.

You must wear a mask to pass through the entry gate.  To enter the building, you will need to press "288" or call the main gate on the phone once inside the building entrance, or show your face to the camera when you push the buzzer at the back entrance.  Please respect the new "social distancing" rule that we now live with.  We will admit inside the unit as many people as we can accommodate, following this rule.  Please be patient if we ask you to wait in the hall for a while.  Look forward to this sale event as an opportunity to experience fine art collected and assembled in well lit rooms and hallways for your viewing and purchase.

Note that the sale times will be 9am (rather than our usual 8am, due to Montebello management requirements) and end at 4pm each of the five days.
