This is a 3-day sale, beginning Friday, 10 February, and continuing through Sunday, 12 February, 8am-4pm each day.  Address is 205 Yoakum Parkway (Watergate at Landmark condos), building 2, unit 1825.  Everything you see for sale belongs to the unit owner who has lived for decades in several parts of the world.  Now that she is downsizing, she is parting with items she bought in China in the 1950s, in Russia, other years in Egypt, and Latin America.  Aside from souvenirs from different countries, she bought many clothes, some ethnic, others semi-formal and formal wear.  All dresses/gowns/robes are size 8-10.  So, you will have an opportunity to select among many different types of items from many different continents.  Note items from Russia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Korea, India, Chile, Paraguay.

On top of the list is a 2-1/2'x5-1/2' Chinese silk rug, featuring a pagoda in the forest.  We have hung it over one of two locked showcases we brought in to display the finer jewelry, including pearls, meerschaum, semiprecious stones, amber, gold, silver.  Next is a hanging handpainted scroll depicting mountains, waterfalls, plus people and small buildings hidden among trees.  It is hanging just inside the entryway leading to the living room.  Two paintings in particular deserved citing.  One is a FINE painting of a red tree done in 1990 by the Italian artist Leonardo de Magistris.  The other is a large Russian painting of a pond/ducks/trees done in the stippling technique -- extremely successful.  In the hallway you will discover two paintings from Nepal, one of Mount Everest, one of a young shirpa carrying an infant on his back -- both strikingly done.  Rare are two large chest ornaments from the Bohu tribe, which we have hung on a dining room wall.  The large round woven basketry trays we hung in the kitchen, the South African beaded neck rings in the hallway, and the Chinse carved wood disks in the dining room.  Two large Chinese "forbidden stitch" embroidered panels hang over the checkout table.  The more expensive women's clothes hang in the entryway closet.

You will discover myriad items on the 16 tables that we brought in plus other items displayed with floodlights on the floor, and many clothes hanging on the walls.  Look for the brass and copper pots and trays, also the tall Nepalese brass candle stand.  Take time to enjoy looking at the many paintings, prints, and photographs that we have hung on the walls.  Framed copies of prints of Egypt by David Roberts hang together on a dining room wall over brass "onks" and one copper coptic cross.  You will also find groups of handpainted ceramic tiles from various countries.  Rare in good condition are two large Russian handpainted wood eggs plus two building miniatures that you will find to the right of one showcase.  Note the tooled leather box from Paraguay.  The complementary pair of mustard-color fou dogs greet you from the table in the center of the living room.  The celadon Buddha sits on a short pedestal near the Thai lacquered duck and beside the Vietnamese "crushed eggshell" container.

Three curved bladed knives accompanied by pairs of much smaller knives in sheaths are in the second showcase near the balcony window along with one khanjar in silvertone metalwork.  There, too, you will find some good quality men's cufflinks, miniature ceramic Chinese masks, keychains and lapel pins.  One keychain is a silver "J", stamped as 900 grade silver.  Who of you has a first name or last name beginning with "J"?  We just polished it for you.  We have put about 50 White House Christmas ornaments in their original boxes to the right of that showcase.

Among the many textiles from around the world are handwoven silks, and a pair of woven horseback bags from Nepal -- again rare in good condition.  You will find scarves hung up on display while the men's neckties are arranged on one of the tables along with souvenir Panama-style hats and nearly 20 baseball-style caps including 5 from Golf Opens.  We have put the approximately 50 CDs on a window sill and the DVDs on one shelf of the bookcase unit, the others filled with books on travel and history.  You will find women's purses/handbags on the bed in the master bedroom.  Of particular note are the tooled leather ones.

Women's size 7 dress shoes  and men's size 11 FINE leather shoes are in the master bedroom.  On the bed there you will enjoy looking at a large unframed handpainted silk scene, also for sale.  One of three handpainted Chinese folding screens is there.

There is not much furniture left, however, you may be interested in the low/long Chinese cabinet in the master bedroom, the chest with alcove in the dining room, the French Provincial cabinet also there.  Other unique items include a miniature billiard table,  Casio electric keyboard, "office golf" apparatus.  We have over 8 tennis rackets for you as well as two bowling balls.

So, look forward to enjoying time seeing items you have never seen in your life, enjoying the displays, and just being at another Items of Value sale.  We are planning one or two more this month of February, two others already for March.
