Items of Value, Inc
Description & Details
This is a small sale quantity-wise but it contains a few VERY SPECIAL items. They are a large Waterford crystal chandelier, a large silk rug, a fine tall display case. Other items of interest are sterling silver flatware, bowls, plates, a lot of silverplate items including large Victorian ladles, much antique and vintage silverplate flatware, framed White House Christmas cards, and early 20th century oak furniture. The FINE showcase in the living room displays a variety of items including cobalt-cut-to-clear pieces, varied cup/saucer combinations.
If you have been looking for a large FINE crystal chandelier, this Waterford chandelier is magnificent. It measures 34"h x 28"d, has 6 "S"-curved arms supporting bobeches with dangling crystals. From the top bowl lines of crystals form a cascade over the larger inverted bowl over the center post to the arms, which are underhung with cut crystal pendants. We have not discovered any chips or cracks, so this seems to be a rarity in this large size and good condition (priced @ $4,920).
The 9'x12' handwoven silk rug was made in China, copying a Persian style. The field is an overall floral/foliate pattern against white, surrounded by 7 main borders. It is in very good condition. It comes with a rug pad (priced @ $3,420). The showcase has grooved plate glass shelves under two lights and against a mirrored back (priced @ $2,420).
The tall case clock is the double "S"-curve top style with medial turned finial, register #113722, by Herman Miller, 85"h x 21"w x 15"d. It plays a single chime sequence. The brass pendulum disk is 6-1/2"d. We have devoted one display case to a large collection of vintage dolls assembled from all over the world. Note in particular the ones of Afro Americans -- very rare!
Four framed White House Christmas cards from the Bush administration (1989-1992) are hanging on a dining room wall. We have set the rectangular oak table with a pink rose pattern dinnerware, vintage crystal, and flatware. Note the unique Venetian glass bowl in the center of the table, 9-3/4"h x 14"w x 9"d. Although there are small sections missing, it is an exciting piece because it features two winged dragons climbing over the blue/gold twist design bowl. On the adjacent vintage oak buffet, we have put other glass and silverplate. The buffet offers a bold design on two doors, overall 36"h x 56"w x 29"d. Some of the many candlesticks we have grouped on the table to the left of the buffet.
This sale includes two framed watercolors, of good quality, by Florence Wood. One is dated 1929 and depicts a thatched roof cottage along a dirt road while the other depicts a stand of birch trees on water's edge. Note also the VMI captain-style Windsor chair and other related VMI collectibles. When you discover it, enjoy looking at the miniature single-story house under glass. It is a model of a house still standing at 4007 Moss Place in Alexandria. You won't miss the boxes of Christmas and Halloween items we have set out in the living room and on one sofa. We put the White House ornaments on the large octagonal oak table in the corner and added a huge sphere of seashells beside the huge goblet of seashells and beach glass.
The two bedrooms and office we have stuffed with furniture and smaller items. You will find the pair of Korean table lamps featuring standing figures (made of bone) on top of a dropfront desk. There are child oak chairs, many toys/games in there as well. The one genuine Hitchcock side chair is beside another dropfront desk in the master bedroom along with MANY clothes.
Enjoy your "discovery visit" as you walk through the house. There are assortments of ceramic plates, vintage child clothes including a christening gown, a collection of candlesticks, two silverplate tea sets, more framed items, vintage furniture, vintage 78rpm records, three carved wood foliate wall brackets, plus other items that would either enhance a room in your house or have an even more practical value to you.
The backyard includes a shed of yard tools plus aluminum ladder. We put the pink plastic flamingo beside the cement St. Francis. The oval ceramic cooker on stand is also waiting for you.
WE HAVE ALREADY PUT OUT THE SIGN-IN PAD AT THE FRONT DOOR.
