Description & Details
We are pleased to welcome you to a fine sale in a spacious home that has three floors with central staircase, three fireplaces, plus an elevator. You will thoroughly enjoy being there, discovering different items in each room. The walls are filled with fine art of a great variety: paintings, watercolors, sketches. You will discover listed artists among them. Peruse our photos to see what we have at this sale. The largest painting that you see in the photo behind the baby grand piano is Leiman's version of Manet's lily pond in Giverny, France (priced @ $1,600). You will find three dinnerware sets plus one set of fine crystal stemware. Figures and small items are equally varied, encompassing Asian and English ceramics. We have placed two fine large lead crystal pieces on pedestals/stands to the right of the fireplace in the living room. A brass coal bucket (currently filled with pinecones) sits on the floor in front of it.
Women will enjoy going through 4 double closets of women's clothes, size medium, plus size 8-1/2 shoes. You will also enjoy selecting from among the pieces of costume jewelry and small collection of perfume bottles. Of special interest will be the white ostrich feather hand fan, long white suede evening gloves, and period carved European Art Deco glove box featuring hen and chickens on the lid that are in the back bedroom.
Furniture items that you may enjoy are the matched pair of period Danish modern dressers in the front bedroom, the antique Pembroke table in the dining room, the small legged display cabinet on the left side of the sofa in the living room, the antique cylinder cabinet/stand with "dished" round stone top on the right side of that sofa, a nest of three mahogany tables fitted between two dark blue upholstered armchairs to the left and in front of that fireplace. One bedroom is furnished with reproduction furniture and a variety of chairs. You will discover more chairs on the lower level, including a set of six ladderback chairs in very good condition.
If you have been looking for one, this is your opportunity to purchase a Delft-style chandelier (hanging in the dining room) of ceramic and brass components. You may also find practical and beautiful a reticulated folding standing floor screen which we have placed against the window to the left of the fireplace in the living room. We have a simulated stone-top showcase with interior light for sale topped by a reproduction electrified oil lamp with green glass shade to the left of the baby grand piano. An antique accounting desk topped by an open cabinet filled with cookbooks is in the kitchen along with an antique child's highchair and low plank-bottom side chair. A large reproduction pine hutch fills one wall of the kitchen, filled with a white dinnerware set.
We have set the dining room table with a vintage floral pattern dinnerware set, being Haviland Limoges "Orsay", and have complemented it with three sizes of fine crystal stemware, being Brierly's "Coventry Cross-cut" diamond pattern, around silverplate tea set and sauceboat with attached underplate and ladle. We have assembled 4 styles of salt/pepper shakers on a round silverplate tray there. One find in this sale will be the vintage/antique Art Deco spherical coffee urn with butterscotch-color Bakelite mounts. It is a rare item in good condition. It sits in the middle of the sideboard beneath a large round mirror. You will be astounded to see the large silverplate domed food cover and several sets of silverplate fruit knives plus other assorted silverplate spoons.
In a showcase we have put in the dining room, you will discover an antique silver pocket watch, a carved soapstone horse, and other small items.
You will find a variety of CDs and books which we have grouped on shelves in the alcove adjacent to the dining room. We have put two vintage microscopes, still in their original wood cases, on top of the bookcase beside the checkout table. Who of you will take home the hostess name card stand in the vestibule? Who will take home one or more of the various sizes and styles of carpets on the floors throughout the house? Looking around on the various tables, you will discover collectible items such as a seated buddha, animal figurines, boxes. On the mantle as well as on the "piano-style" writing desk, you will discover nicknacks including reproduction British ceramic figures and a carved ivory cylindrical table lamp. While in that room, take time to examine the fine repousse work of the oval brass tray on wood legged stand.
The lower level displays a fine 9'x12' carpet. We have put a round white vintage coffee table on it to display a partial dinnerware set. The large laundry room plus a front room on the lower level have tools. We discovered a brand new hooded grill inside the doors to the patio that was no doubt awaiting use on the patio with its several seating arrangements. Items on the patio are for sale, including a cement saint statue in the alcove behind the fireplace.
