Arlington Estate Sale | Extraordinary Historical Treasures & Rare French Stained Glass

✨ COME OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY! ✨

Some estate sales offer beautiful furniture. Others offer wonderful antiques, artwork, or unique collectibles.

This Arlington estate offers something truly extraordinary: an intact collection of four French Gothic Revival stained-glass panels, signed and dated 1917, attributed to the celebrated Parisian atelier of Charles Champigneulle.

Created during the First World War, these remarkable architectural works have survived for more than a century, retaining the artistry, color, and religious imagery that made French ecclesiastical stained glass so admired.

And now, you have an opportunity to bring a piece of that history into your own collection.

⛪ THE CENTERPIECE: FOUR 1917 CHARLES CHAMPIGNEULLE STAINED-GLASS PANELS

This extraordinary architectural suite consists of four French Gothic Revival stained-glass panels, designed as a beautifully balanced devotional installation.

The panels depict:

✝️ Le Divin Rédempteur — The Sacred Heart of Jesus

🌹 Notre-Dame-des-Victoires — Our Lady of Victories

⛪ Sainte Thérèse — Saint Teresa of Ávila

✝️ St. Alphonse de Liguori — Saint Alphonsus Liguori

Together, these four panels form an exceptional example of early 20th-century French religious stained-glass artistry.

Each features richly saturated colored glass, intricate Gothic architectural canopies, carefully painted details, and traditional devotional imagery.

The collection is signed and dated 1917, with a kiln-fired studio signature visible directly on the glass.

Adding to its historical interest, the panels retain original paper transport labels from E.D.E.T. International Shippers, a Paris-based fine-art shipping company associated with the historic Saint-Ouen antiques market.

These surviving labels offer an intriguing connection to the collection's journey from France and provide valuable material for further provenance research.

The collection is particularly appealing because the four panels remain together as a coordinated architectural suite rather than being dispersed as individual windows.

Imagine these extraordinary works:

• Installed in a private chapel or prayer room

• Incorporated into a grand architectural entryway

• Displayed in a historic residence

• Featured in a religious institution

• Preserved as a complete fine-art installation

• Acquired by a collector of French architectural antiques

For collectors, preservationists, religious institutions, architects, and lovers of historic stained glass, this is an exceptional opportunity.

And the stained glass is only the beginning.

A PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY — 1867 GEORGE WASHINGTON PORTRAIT

1867 J. Smith “Warranted Oil Colors” Chromolithograph Portrait of George Washington, After Gilbert Stuart — Oval Gilt Frame

Another remarkable historical offering at our Arlington estate sale is this beautifully presented 19th-century chromolithograph portrait of George Washington, dated 1867, based on the iconic portraiture of celebrated American artist Gilbert Stuart.

Produced just two years after the conclusion of the American Civil War, this portrait offers a fascinating glimpse into how Americans honored the nation's first president during the Reconstruction era.

The piece features:

1867 J. Smith “Warranted Oil Colors” printing

Portrait of George Washington after Gilbert Stuart

Traditional oval gilt frame

Surviving original printed backing label

Historical appeal for collectors of 19th-century Americana, presidential memorabilia, and early American prints

What makes this particular example especially interesting is the preservation of its original backing label, an important identifying detail that helps document the print's historical production.

Whether you're a collector of American history, presidential memorabilia, Civil War-era material, or antique portraiture, this is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a distinctive piece of 19th-century Americana.

Come own a piece of history — from the extraordinary 1917 French stained glass to this remarkable 1867 portrait of George Washington!
