Unless we are closed down by an authorized public authority, we intend to do this sale on Sat-Sun, 28-29 March.    At our showroom #3 sale last weekend, we had a steady trickle of people both days, never more than five at a time, everyone except one person paying attention to maintaining a 6' speaking distance, most people practicing the new "elbow knocking" greeting, some availing themselves of the wet wipes and hand sanitizer we supplied.  We ask that those of you who decide to come to this sale do the same.  I will probably be wearing plastic gloves, maybe a mask as well.  You should do as you determine best for you.

This is a full house of items that the children do not want or do not have space for.  It includes items accumulated from a military career living in different parts of the world.  You will find framed black/white photos of battle ships, aircraft carriers, ships sailing and turning in formation, officers.  We found a box of brass uniform buttons, certificates, signed letters that may interest you.

The collection of Hummels sits on top of a vintage audio cabinet.  The complementary pair of RARE painted porcelain table lamps of a female holding basket of grapes and male with grape harvesting basket on his back flank the vintage sofa on which we have displayed White House ornaments.  In front of the sofa is a long low double dropleaf table on which we have put vintage cups/saucers plus a silverplated tea service on lazy susan tray.  To the left of that is one of several Vietnamese fish traps converted into tables with round inset glass tops.  Others are in bedrooms and family room.

We brought in one showcase to display small items including a Dutch silver spoon set, miniature sabre/envelope opener, enameled brooches, souvenir cigarette lighters, Russian box with young female portrait on lid, Russian scene broach, Norwegian bottle opener, some costume jewelry.  To the right we put two boxes of costume jewelry for you to enjoy sorting through.  We have decorated the Hitchcock-style dining table (surrounded by Windsor chairs) and double-dropleaf serving cart with china, vintage goblets, and brassware.  We found 9 different heights/sizes of matching goblets, having a medium blue bowl portion and flat base over clear stem.  Perhaps you can tell us the 9 different uses of this assortment of stemware.

We also counted a graduated set of 9 handpainted Swedish horses.  More souvenirs of living abroad you will find on shelves along with the books in the family room.  Look for the figurine of a nun eating chocolate, the miniature double decker London bus, the German beer stein, the Dutch blue/white souvenir drink coasters.  Enjoy looking at the Santas and other Christmas items in the family room, behind the showcase, and in two bedrooms.  You will surely buy one to enjoy the next Christmas season.  We may have more Santas than Oscar Lasso-Gugumuck has in his collection.  Wood carvings seem to be another highlight of this sale.  They include an elephant, water buffalo, children, old cross-legged man, "thinker".  Unique items are the model Viking ship, Norwegian porcelain bowls, Russian Khokhloma round lidded box, Irish linen handkerchief, meerschaum smoking pipe.

You women will enjoy the selection of silk scarves, purses, hats, and gloves in the master bedroom.  Note the Henkel Harris tall chest of drawers there.  Men who can accommodate a 42" waist will find a selection of fine belts to fit, also a cumberbun/bowtie/suspenders set for formal wear.  For men we also have a 2-car garage full of hand tools, power tools, hardware.  For all of you who are now spending more time at home, why not buy the set of hand weights on metal frame or one of the pairs of ankle weights.  We also have boxed board games.

As a search challenge, will you be able to identify the framed Norman Rockwell print of a line of school children, two Buckley Moss prints, Royal Copenhagen blue-on-white handpainted footed bowl, Couroc plate with owl?  Despite the weather, decide if you would enjoy having the white wicker furniture set now.  On tables in the large sunroom we have washed and displayed much decorating items, cookware, serving ware.  In fact, one of my workers spent over six hours washing glass vases, glass drink ware, and eating ware to get it all ready for you.  Yes, we work hard at getting ready for our sales, but it is good to be appreciated.  Thank you for your compliments.

So, be safe, whether you decide to stay home or come to our sale.  We have two contracts in hand plus more requests to do sales in April.  I have picked July 4 for all of us to look back to see what will have transpired in our lives the next three months.  Take care, Jerry Ford
