Items of Value

     This house belongs to a woman who did interior decorating.  Now retired, she is giving up a host of items she used for decorating plus a house beautifully decorated to pair down.  This will be a unique opportunity to purchase items that are seldom offered for sale as well as to acquire pieces from her stock of staging items.  You will have to admit that you have never seen so many table lamps.  She used a lot of these for staging.  The same is true for artificial floral arrangements and for framed artwork.  She certainly knows how to put a room together to make a statement.

      Some of the many floral arrangements are "over the top" in size and quite breathtaking.  Others make subtle statements of beauty like the lily-of-the valley bouquet on top of the painted chest of drawers in the entryway.   When it comes to decorating for the Christmas holidays, she really outdid herself.  You will be the beneficiary of her selections of holiday decorations.  Our client knew furniture styles and enjoyed mixing French with English with American.  One of you will be the lucky one to take home the antique spool-turned bed with two large handpainted oval panels in the headboard.  The entire surface of the bed frame was overpainted.  While in that bedroom, admire the narrow antique armoire with mirrored door that might look great in your home.

     On the landing upstairs you will see an enormous handpainted reproduction "monteith" flanked by a very creative 2-light table lamp with brown feathers on the shades.  As you go room-by-room, take time to enjoy the great variety of table lamps.  We have set the dining table with only part of a large Noritake dinnerware set and placed a basket of blue flowers in the center.  You will find a large assortment of antique and vintage silverplate flatware there for sale.  Our client particularly liked the large mirror hanging in the dining room with its compartmented squares.  You will find 6 plate patterns in the dining room.  Note that the serving stand on wheels in the dining room has railed lower shelves.

     We think that the 4-poster bed in the master bedroom is king size.  The traveling trunk on metal stand to the right of the bed is enormous and in very good condition.  The two matching wingchairs flanking a drum table at the left side of that room create a wonderful invitation to sit and read.  The adjacent former office offers you a very large vintage square teak-veneered table with storage cupboard beneath.  This sale is your chance to acquire 4 new very sturdy shoe racks made of bamboo.  We have put the few remaining stylish high-heel shoes there that our client is not taking with her.  In view of space constraints, we have moved the stylish clothes and jackets to a closet in the entryway.

     Suggesting elegant style is the kidney-shape desk in the living room over which hangs a very exotic mirror.  In fact, you will find an assortment of wall mirrors throughout the house, many of which you have never imagined before.  Equally varied are the framed artwork throughout the house.  They vary not only in theme but in color as well as style of the frames, to fit decors that were staged.  If you have been looking for a FINE tall case clock with a most pleasing chime, purchase the large Ridgeway clock in the corner of the living room.  If you have always wanted an antique treadle sewing machine, one awaits you in the basement.  For those of you who were too late to purchase one of the two black leather sofas we had in a sale two weeks ago, here is another chance for one.  This house also has two large and six smaller rugs for sale.  You might like the one in the living room which is predominantly red or the one in the dining room which is predominantly light blue.  You will find two smaller antique rugs in the family room.

     We have set the square kitchen table with a second dinnerware set in pink floral pattern.  In the center you will find a bowl of facsimiles of what you may have had the opportunity to saver, being chocolate covered strawberries.  Delight in the discoveries you will make as you go through this house.  Note also an outdoor patio set just outside the family room as well as a fairly new chest freezer in the garage that has just been emptied and cleaned for you.  

     You will spend more time than you think in the basement exploring and discovering more items that were used for staging.  They include 2 standing hinged panel screens, an array of small table and plant stands, a miniature sleigh and miniature flower cart.  Elsewhere in the basement you will find a work bench with hand tools and hardware, also metal racks of assorted items, a pair of plastic sawhorses, a seed/fertilizer spreader, and other yard tools.  The built-in plywood shelves hold the overflow of decorating items.
