Description & Details
This sale is three days, beginning on Friday, 22 October, at 8am. We have nearly the entire contents of the house for sale since my clients are moving/retiring out of the country. Because of the tremendous cost of moving internationally, the wife is giving up paintings that she inherited from her mother as well as her mother's porcelain. The largest painting is by A.S.Haynes, depicting buildings seen through a treed park. Perhaps you can determine where it was done. Other paintings are from central or eastern Europe. You might enjoy the play of light in one of a house near water. Or you might prefer the one done in a primitive style of a farmer working hay outside a farmhouse. The sunset painting upstairs is dark but striking. The husband is giving up a host of practically new electric power tools. View these in the photos. We have brought in many tables and have displayed the tools in the 2-car garage. The son is giving up his collection of cars, Wi-Fi, and video games. You will find these upstairs.
The house itself is beautiful, having a large entry living/dining room with tall coffered ceiling. The very private patio in the middle of the ground floor is inviting. We are selling the potted plants there as well as the round metal mesh table with umbrella and 4 chairs. The 2 "all- weather" outdoor white wicker chairs and table are also for sale. You will find the kitchen counter full of kitchen ware. This sale has more Calphalon pots than we have ever had at one time and is good condition. One European china pattern has so many pieces that we have had to leave most of it on 2 shelves in the cupboard. The other is a floral pattern by Noritake. You will find a third set of rectangular white dishes on top of the burgundy tablecloth in the dining area. A second set of table/chairs is at the end of the kitchen next to the family room. It is black, consisting of a round table and 4 side chairs.
Bohemian crystal abounds in this sale. You will have a choice of fine cut crystal from bowls to dishes. In addition to these, you will find colored studio art glass that we have displayed on various tables. Beside the checkout table, I will have a group of Baltic amber-in-silver jewelry and some sterling silver, one being a good size sterling silver bowl. There too you will see the single Lladro that is for sale.
This sale has a lot of fine and large audio equipment and over 60 LPs. For lack of space, we have moved the many DVDs to shelves in the garage. There you will find two virtually new Diamond Back bicycles. That is also where we put the overflow of painted vases, tiles, and other items. You will have a good time viewing these there. The practically new refrigerator in the garage is for sale.
Upstairs, take time to enjoy walking through the rooms. The middle area is a library/study filled with books and small items. You will find the Epiphone guitar on a sofa in one of the 2 front bedrooms as well as alcove shelving and dressers for sale. The 3 pieces of "red-cut-to-clear" Czech crystal are on top of the fireplace mantle. Turning around, you will find more items for sale that we have set out on 2 tables.
The large walk-in closet/dressing room has clothes for women and men. You will find a large selection of men's neckties, handbags, also table linens and bed linens. The 3 lamps with red fabric shades in the master bedroom are for sale, 2 of them table lamps on top of beside chests, the other a floor lamp.
We hope the days of our sale are sunny so that you can enjoy all the sunlight that comes into the rooms and also take a short walk to Occoquan Bay to enjoy the views there. Please bring empty boxes and canvas tote bags with you because we have none to offer. Please wear a face mask to protect you from other people who may not have been vaccinated.
Remember that this 3-day weekend sale will be followed by a Tuesday-Wednesday midweek sale in western Fairfax off Pope's Head Road. We have already posted the announcement of that sale along with photos. To finish out the month, we have a 3-day sale scheduled for the last weekend in Gaithersburg, well worth the drive for the types of items we will have to offer you.
