Description of sale:  The couple lived in this house nearly 40 years, both having grown up in the Puget Sound area.  The mom was a painter and a quilter (although she started more projects than she finished😊).  She was a member of the local chapter of the National Society of Decorative Painters and was also in the Quilting Bees quilting group.  She painted ceramics up until the 1960s and then began working with acrylic paints on wood and canvas.  Many hours were spent finding just the right things to work on, hence the large collection of craft items still in the house.  For her quilting, she was always very good at selecting fabrics to go together to make a quilt, but not always as good completing the quilts.  Many random treasures were collected over the years – mostly because they just made her happy or smile.  Her favorite haunts were antique malls and shops where she found vintage swinging picture frames, old white tins with a single line around them, old sewing machine drawers, etc.  Her father was a self-reliant person who had the 'it might be broken, but you can fix it' attitude.  She definitely inherited that trait!

The dad was a figure-eight driver as well as a one-time demolition derby race car driver who raced at the Monroe Speedway until his first child was born.  Shortly before that he finished a race upside down!  He might have raced a couple more times after that, but he stopped racing once he became a dad.  He enjoyed golfing and fishing, but did not do either one very often, especially after Mom retired.  He loved his wife more than anything else in the world and mostly wanted to do things that would make her happy, even at the exclusion of his own interests. 

They made several trips to the Hawaiian Islands and enjoyed their time there.  She liked the sun and the beach (and the shops!); he liked to swim and snorkel.  They both collected many things from those trips as well as other things that reminded them of Hawaii.

The vintage toys belonged to their two children and very few were parted with!  There are also old children’s books and clothes.
