A well-known northern Illinois antiques dealer passed away recently and we are selling the contents of her home. Those contents include her personal collections as well as her shop inventory.

POSTCARDS: Hundreds from her collection, all carefully archived in post card albums. Included are some real-photo postcards, many from Connecticut but some, local Illinois. One theme she collected was "Month of Birth" and the gemstones & flowers associated with that month and their symbolism. Some of these are Gibson-girl type with insurance advertising. Also, 12 Tuck "Zodiac Valentine" postcards & "Sentiments of the Months". Another series features the bird associated with a birth month, along with the gemstone. Also, Johnson-Ayres 1911 birthday series. Many more not listed here.
HOROSCOPE / FORTUNE POSTCARDS: There are a number of postcard-sized Horoscope reading cards, perhaps the kind issued from coin-operated fortune-telling machines. In addition there are many "Your Fortune" embossed postcards, copyrighted by J. Marks, 1910. (Very colorful w/witch, owls, bats and black cats!) Also Sheahan's 1909 "Your Fortune" postcards w/zodiac, flower and birthstone pictured. Many more not listed here.
HAND-PAINTED LIMOGES PORCELAIN: Probably more pieces than you've ever seen in one place . . . included themes are florals, animal/game, fish, cherubs, ships. All pieces are in excellent condition and expertly painted, some studio painted, on interesting forms such as pudding sets, urns, egg cups, salt cellars, and oyster sets. Hundreds of examples!
COSTUME JEWELRY: Victorian through 1990s, all quality. Fine Victorian cameos to funky, colorful brooches & rings. Hundreds of pieces!
