John McFarland (1939-present) and Barbara McFarland (1939-2023) were pillars of the Manitowish Waters community and the surrounding area in Northern Wisconsin for decades. Known for their talents in artistry and their locally owned cranberry farm, they had made many connections with travelers and fellow artists over the course of their lifetimes. John is most known for his portrait art; which includes a piece commissioned by renowned Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O'Connor - a piece held in her personal collection and hung behind her desk in Washington D.C. during her tenure. The McFarlands were also family friends of renowned artist Milford Zornes (1908-2008) and had purchased multiple pieces from him over a lifetime of friendship.
The entire McFarland estate is now up for auction in this must-see series of auctions - including a premier auction that features ORIGINAL WORKS from Barbara and John, Milford Zornes, Guy Charon, and more. Although giclee prints were made available in the local area, their original works were largely held in their own collection - so this auction presents a unique opportunity to own original pieces from these esteemed artists. In addition to original art, there is a wide selection of studio pottery, art glass, midcentury and earlier international and Native American jewelry, one-of-a-kind carvings, and midcentury collectibles. This is sure to be one of the most sought-after collections up for auction this year in the entire Midwest.
Please enjoy these offerings, brought to you by Hueckman Auction!
