This is a large painting, 35"h x 24"w, in a beige/black frame, 39"h x 28-1/2"w. The painting honors women and is by the Mexican artist Marran. Here she focuses on a woman with almond skin color, long neck, exposed upper chest, wearing pink flower earrings and blue floral print blouse under blue shawl, poised with a whitish blue bowl on her head containing round fruit and a glass jar. This female dominates the painting and fills the right side of the painting, in contrast to a darker image of a second female with brown bowl on her head and her left hand on her shoulder, facing away from the viewer in the middle of the painting , nevertheless leading us to view the Aztec warrior head in white tracings against a stepped Aztec temple in the left background. The entirety leads us to note the beauty of Aztec women and seeming nobility of their poses. Painting is clean, with minor scraping. Frame has significant scrapes, especially along the bottom edge and deserves sanding and repainting.
