Not only is this painting, done in color and ink on silk, large, it is in very good condition. The exposed portion of the silk image is 12-1/2"h x 16-1/4"w, clearly divided into three sections, being two women at left, one woman and two men at right, and table with articles on top in middle. They dominate the lower two-thirds of the image. More detail can be seen in the architectural elements of the building behind, including paneled walls, screens, pillars, railing. On the left, one woman is holding rolled up scrolls while the other is leaning considerably forward extending a footed tray of fruit. On the right is seated a mustached/bearded male, a younger seated male, a standing female. The patterning of their garments is varied, detailed, and very interesting to analyze. The table is the third major compositional element of the scene. Note the vase of flowers on a wood stand, the footed bowl with ladle, the VERY PECULIAR triple-branch handled teapot, covered cup on saucer, ink brush on stone rest depicting three mountains, ink block, second cup on saucer sitting near a blank mat over a table draped in blue-on-white tablecloth. The silk is framed in a peach-colored mat and bamboo-style frame, 21"h x 24-3/4"w. There are minor dents in the sides of the frame.
