Attic to the Basement Estate Sales

We are a professional estate liquidation company with years of experience in tag sales, moving sales, estate and liquidation sales. We take the guesswork and most of the physical labor off your hands. Our company has a solid team that knows how to research and properly price items to sell to interested dealers and consumers. We know how to display for visual impact and accommodate the flow of foot traffic for a safe and profitable sale.

We understand this is a highly stressful time for you and your family and our commitment to you is to take all of the worry off your hands. We are with you from start to finish no matter how long it takes. We are prepared to help you with every situation no matter how big or small our staff has seen it all from hoarding to homes that have been locked up for years.

Each member of our staff has many years of experience working in antique shops and brings their own expertise to the sale. Our staff has expert knowledge with vintage jewelry, depression glass, high end furniture, and military items. You can rest assured our staff will work hard to help ensure a lucrative and professional sale. We also work closely with the most respected experts in the business. Anything we are not 100 percent familiar with our experts are ready to help us price including: stamps, coins, sports memorabilia, gold/silver jewelry and mid-century modern furniture.

Proper advertising is essential to the success of your sale. Attic to the Basement Estate Sales has one of the largest marketing networks to ensure we reach perspective customers all over the tri state area. Depending upon the size of your sale and its collectible contents we can also provide advertising throughout the United States. (Note: not all sales will be advertised outside the tri state area.)

To get started we ask that you do not throw anything away including all clothing. You will be amazed at what sells at an estate sale. Please go through belongings and make a "keep" and "sell" list. Family members who want items should take them away as soon as possible. All furnishings and larger items to be kept will be marked prominently as "NFS" or "not for sale." Smaller items should be kept in a safe room that will be securely closed to the public.

During the in person consult we will discuss your needs, time frame, and tour the home or estate. We will take photographs to help with advertising. We also discuss pricing and how we will make this a very positive experience for you. (Note: each sale is different and for this reason we do not quote a percentage over the phone without seeing the home first.) Once the contract is signed and a date is chosen we will prepare to stage the sale. Please keep in mind all sales and set ups are different and most set ups take 1-3 days. We are happy to help unpack items that have been tucked away for many years including attics and basements. Once staging is complete we will begin pricing items for sale. (Please rest assure that anything large in value will be discussed with the owner.) The sale itself usually runs 2-3 days on the weekends.

Can't wait to see you at our sale. Setup was 3214.

Please feel free to call us at 732-778-7674 or email us at estatesales@attictothebasement.com to schedule an in person consult. We will follow up within 24 hours and we look forward to working with you

My story begins when my grandmother took me to my first flea market when I was six years old. I remember thinking, “this is not where I want to be”, but she gave me a dollar to shop, told me to stay close, and off we went. At that age I was only interested in toys, but what toy on earth was I going to buy with only one dollar? The answer was a few small toys and a pretzel, WOW - I was hooked! From then on my grandmother and I spent most of our Saturdays together at the Englishtown Flea Market.

Years later my weekends still consist of flea markets and garage sales. The thrill of the hunt - searching for that perfect figurine, adding to my many collections. Tea cups, toys, vintage Christmas and Halloween decorations, Hummels, cookie jars, brooches - everything and anything. These are the things that bring me back to my favorite Aunt’s house that was filled with all the things we remember from our childhood.

After I was married and had my daughter I worked full time, but had to stop due to an injury. Searching for a way to make extra money, I began selling at the flea market and on EBay. Instead of buying I was now selling all the collectibles it took years to find. Strangely I found myself loving what I was doing, I was making money and I was happy. Not many of us can say that! Meeting so many new people and listening to stories of how they started their own collections motivated me and I began searching for them. Now, I wasn't shopping for myself but the thrill of the hunt was back! And the smile on other people’s faces was all I needed to know this is where I belonged. So, I rented a small booth in an antique shop and started filling it with all the things I knew customers would love.

Then in 2012, Hurricane Sandy flooded our neighborhood and I lost my home and most of its contents. The little money I received from insurance didn't cover everything I lost and that is when I discovered estate sales. I filled my home with furniture, electronics, decorations and clothing all from these amazing sales. Soon after, I began a part time job helping various Estate Sale companies’ stage homes before the sales. That is how I met my mentor who quickly realized this was not only a job for me, but a way of life. Over the next year she taught me all the secrets to a good sale - how to keep the customers as well as the clients happy. She gave me the opportunity to become her partner; and then sadly two months later my mentor passed away. I was lost without my partner, but she had given me the confidence and know how to succeed and not long after her passing I decided to honor her legacy.

This brings me to where I am today, full circle from that first flea market with my grandmother. I started my own company, Attic to the Basement Estate Sales. I am doing what I love and my customers can confidently put their worries into my hands, and most important their memories, as they deal with some of life’s most stressful times - loss, divorce, the stress of moving, etc. Attic to the Basement Is a dream come true for me and one that I intend to finish to the end. I would be honored to bring my passion, know how, and hard work to make your estate sale successful.

Sincerely,

Tara Marie

Our Testimonials

January 29th 2017
Working with Attic to the basement was great! I had never experienced an Estate Sale, but when we recently moved my Dad into an assisted living facility it was necessary to sell the assets of the home my parents lived in their entire lives. 70 years’ worth of collectibles, antiques, and just lots of stuff – it was overwhelming, but meeting with Tara put my mind at ease. She is passionate about collectible treasures and was so respectful and knowledgeable of my parent’s belongings. It was a pleasure talking to her about the process of planning and conducting the sale. She and her Team at Attic to the Basement did exactly what they said – they planned, researched, organized and priced everything, marketed the sale effectively, and conducted a tremendously successful sale. It was fun to get excited texts and emails from Tara as she researched individual items and shared their background and value. She also agreed to provide clean out services and within one week of the sale the house was empty and clean. I cannot speak highly enough about the professionalism and effectiveness of Tara and her Team. She exceeded my expectations! I recommend Attic to the Basement without hesitation and I am happy to share my experience with friends and other prospective customers.

Attic to Basement
To whom it may concern,
I confirm that I dealt with Attic to Basement for an estate sale the weekend of January 6th
I would like to highly recommend this company for their high level of commitment that they
displayed for my family’s estate sale. Tara and Mark have a very experienced and dedicated
staff which was displayed in the set up, and running of the sale. Their high energy, hard work
and enthusiasm for my mother’s items helped make the sale a success. I felt totally comfortable
with them having complete access to the house when not present and can attest to their
honesty and dependability during the sale set up. They exceeded my expectations and left the
house in great shape and re-packed left over items and left every room in better shape than
before. I highly recommend Attic to Basement to anyone planning on having an estate sale and I
am confident that you will be pleased with their service.
Yours faithfully

Mark conducted an Estate Sale at my residence on October 29 and 30.
He and the staff assistant, Russ spent several hours on Friday to sort and set up for the sale.
The two day event was a great success for all. Mark and Tara was extremely professional in conducting business. They went above and beyond and I would recommend them to any of my friends.

“To whom it may concern:
My mother in law passed away. She was an EXTREME hoarder. I hired an estate sale company to come to my home and prepare and hold a sale. It did not work out. I fired them 3 days before our sale date. I decided to go ahead and have a garage sale myself that weekend. Tara and Maryann came to my sale. Tara overheard me speaking to someone about my plight and immediately offered to come and take over the following day. I was a little skeptical at first but I ended up allowing it. The staff came on time and started organizing things for the sale that day. They continued to organize what they could throughout the day. The staff and mark went far above and beyond. After my garage sale ended we hired Mark and Tara to come in and hold an estate sale for us. Mark immediately started taking pictures and posting the sale on line. Getting people excited. Every day prior to the sale The staff was at my home working harder than anyone I know from as early as I would allow until as late as I would allow. They were very polite and made sure with me many times throughout that she was not imposing. After our first sale ended I was pleasantly surprised at the success of the sale. Mark and the staff continued to come to my house to clean up until I was satisfied. We decided to hold a second sale with Mark Again, he worked tirelessly. It no longer felt like he was hired help. He made it feel as though I had hired an old trusted friend. At the time it truly made the situation much easier to deal with. I did not have to worry about anyone he brought to my home to help him I trusted him fully with all our belongings. He truly brought joy to an otherwise sad situation. He made my life much easier. If you have the opportunity to hire Mark for an estate sale I can say with complete confidence that you will be pleased with his work ethic as well as her respect for your belongings.
If you have any questions,

Thank you
