2005 New Orleans Jazz Fest Poster by Bill Hemmerling, custom framed. Poster is unsigned and numbered on archival paper. It has slipped inside the frame somewhat, but is easily repairable.

Bill Hemmerling was a self-taught artist, having had no formal training, yet his work reflects sophistication in both subject matter and materials used. Bill was constantly searching for and using “found” materials and objects that frequently suggested the subject and theme of the paintings. Famed for creating the 2005 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival poster, he also was the artist for the 2008 and 2009 Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival posters.

Buddy Bolden was known as "King" Bolden and his band was at its peak in New Orleans from around 1900 to 1907. He was known for his loud sound and improvisational skills, and his style had an impact on younger musicians. Many early jazz musicians credited Bolden and his bandmates with having originated what came to be known as jazz, though the term was not in common musical use until after Bolden was musically active. At least one writer has labeled Bolden the father of jazz.
