Read Larson was born on June 10, 1925 in Chicago. Larson graduated from Isaac Young High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until 1946. Larson attended Yale University, graduating in 1950 with a degree in mechanical engineering. From 1970-1974 he lived in London, England. In 1983, he was transferred from Chicago to St. Louis. A lifelong watercolorist, Read met Stella Poulos Middleton in art class and they married on Nov. 24, 1984 in St. Louis. He embraced her Greek heritage and her three children. Retiring in 1984 Read and Stella moved to Eureka Springs, AR where both pursued successful careers as painters. In 2002 they moved to St. Louis and lived downtown. For several years Read was a sketch artist at the City Museum where he drew hundreds of caricatures for museum visitors. Read was a well-read intellectual with passions for art, theology and literature. His wit and sarcasm were legend.

Pickup DetailsAfter completion of auction please contact Andrew Lee at 314-578-6751 between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm WITHIN 7 CALENDAR DAYS to arrange for in person pick up of your items. (Items not picked up within a 14 calendar day timeframe after the auction end day will be considered abandoned and you will still be charged in full.) You must bring sufficient help to move your items, including any tools required for disassembly or wrapping material and boxes, we do not provide these items. Condo is located on the 3rd floor of the building. There IS AN ELEVATOR, and almost all the furniture in the auction will fit in the elevator, but some items in auction will not fit in elevator and must be carried down four flights of stairs. Condo building is a secured building and require a code to enter. For most smaller items, we can meet at ground level to pick up your item during your scheduled time. Larger items, heavier items, some art and other items will need to be accessed from the Condo unit on the third floor. Bring sufficient help to move your items, we do not offer assistance or supplies.
