This is the estate of a mid-century era doctor and his wife...The doctor was born in London and his family immigrated to the US just before WWII. The young doctor went on to study at Columbia University where he received this degree in medicine. While practicing medicine at the student clinic at the University of Madison, Wisconsin, he met the love of his life!. His future bride grew up in St. Louis where her father was Director of Parks and Recreation. The newlyweds initially lived in the Midwest and then upstate New York until 1949 when they decided they'd had more than enough snowy winters to last a lifetime.... They moved to sunny Southern California.

The doctor went to work at the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Long Beach upon moving here. When the VA transferred the young doctor to the Van Nuys V.A. facility in the early 1950s - the young couple moved to Encino. The Doctor left the VA to establish his own private practice - and he and his missus purchased their home on Odessa where they raised their daughters and lived the remainder of their lives.

The couple both loved art, movies, the theater, good books, gardening and gourmet cooking. They also loved going out to dinner and movies, especially foreign films. The doctor was an avid gardener and raised hundreds of exotic orchids in their backyard greenhouse which was always a pleasure for family and friends to walk among the fragrant blossoms. When you guys see the home - you will really fall in love with the amazing yard where you can still see the neat gardens and landscaping.

This estate is full of many interesting items accumulated by this worldly couple over the course of their long lives. Check out the pictures and the listing below and come out to Encino to see us and find a special treasure of your own!
