NUMBERS/LIST POLICY: We never offer an "Official List" nor do we believe in "Day or Night Before" Lists. Our policy is simple...first one there..start a list and stays and so on and so forth. If you arrive at a sale and there is a list with a bunch of names (and many in the same handwriting) and no one is there...you have our blessing to trash the list. It's the only fair way. Thank you for understanding.

This week we have a fantastic sale and its located smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles off Crenshaw just south of the 10 Freeway near the interseciton of Rodeo and Crenshaw. This is the estate sale of a very special gent who we have all grown quite fond of...He is completely divesting himself of his years and years of collecting Art. Collectibles, Antique Smalls, Books, and more! We have spent the last two weeks or so madly unpacking and trying to organize the tremendous amounts of stuff in this house!
A bit of background – our client was born and raised in Hawaii. His grandfather was instrumental in having Aikido introduced to Hawaii and our client began training in Aikido at the age of 10 along with receiving lessons in Kendo – Japanese Fencing. He also learned Shotokan Karate as well. In the early 60's, he moved to Los Angeles where his stepfather was the lead instructor at the new Los Angeles Aikikai. While in Chicago with the Army for a two year stint – our client took over as head instructor of the Illinois Aikido Club. He returned to Los Angeles in the mid-60's where he took over the Rafu Dojo in East Los Angeles and his father took over the Illinois Aikido Club and developed other Chicago Area Clubs. These clubs were among the first Aikido Schools to develop in the US and led to the spread of the art in the US. In the early seventies, he formed the Alhambra Aikikai which became the Aikido Academy which is thriving to this day. He is currently ranked 7th Dan as recognized by the Aikikai Hombu Doju and is the Aikikai representative for the Aikikai Assoicates West Coast/Hombu Dojo.
Or as he puts it...I'm kinda of a big deal in Aikido...but its not a big deal. Hahahaha! The man is amazingly kind and self depreciating. In addition to our client's stuff – we have some women's collectibles as well which belonged to his mother. His whimiscal curiousity is evident in his collections – check out the pictures and you will be amazed!
