Again L.A. is honored to have been chosen to liquidate the estate of well known Hollywood Casting Executive and Emmy Award Winning Producer Renee Valente. Ms Valente had a long and successful career as one of the first female executives in Hollywood!

Renee was a smart attractive redhead who began her career as a part-time secretary at Talent Associates and worked herself up through the ranks to become the head of production. She was recruited by NASA to produce a series of specials and then moved on to Screen Gems where she became the head of production! She met the love of her life in 1961 on the set of Laurence Olivier's The Power and The Glory"...production art director Burr Smidt.

Burr was a handsome Florida native who began his career in New York initially with NBC and on Broadway handling set lighting and costumes...working himself eventually up to a position as a NBC VP charged with converting the network from black and white to color broadcast. Burr had always been an artist..even studying art in college abroad and he soon found his love of art pulling him from the corporate side to the art side of production. Recently divorced - the vivacious redhead producer caught his eye and the fireworks began. Burr's daughters told us that their first meeting with the lady who would soon become their second Mom began with Renee walking out to their Dad's boat perfectly coiffed in a dress with princess heels for a day of fishing - they fell in love with her instantly!

Both Burr and Renee's careers took off in the 1960s - Between them they worked on separate projects and together on other projects. Burr received both Emmy and Academy Award Nominations for his Art Direction - Renee received both nominations and won the Emmy in 2001. Always an avid outdoorsman - Burr produced sportsman shows and even wrote and illustrated a book, "Teach Your Dad How to Fish." (We have cases of extra books that will be complimentary with purchase).  Renee's career continued to grow and she achieved many firsts in the corporate and Hollywood production world!

Renee and Burr spent many years bicoastal - with Florida being their home base. They counted many show business figures including Frank Sinatra, Burt Reynolds, Peter Ustinov, Elizabeth Taylor, David Soul, Jackie Collins, George Hamilton, and a host of other colorful figures among their friends and co-workers and they are represented in small treasures within the estate.

Renee lost Burr in 2000 and she let their primary home in Florida go to retire in Los Angeles. Her influence continues today in over 70 telefilms and features, her service as the first female vice president of both Screen Gems and Columbia Pictures Television, the first female president of the Producers Guild of America, and her casting of such classics as Circle of Fear, The Partridge Family, Police Woman, and More!

On behalf of Renee's family - you are invited to find a treasure among many of Renee and Burr's keepsakes! There are so many wonderful treasures to be found - you do not want to miss this sale!
