Come on out!

We have sold a lot...but there are tons of great buys to be had at amazing discounts!  Everyone has found a treasure!

This week we have a great sale! This is the estate of Wallace Albertson...Wallace was the widow of well loved stage, screen, and TV star Jack Albertson known for his roles in Willy Wonka, Poseidon Adventure, and Chico and the Man.  (Jack passed in 1981.)

While Jack was well known in the entertainment world - Wallace was by no means the stay at home little woman! She had an incredibly sharp mind and was always looking to not only educate herself - but to help others as well!  Prior to meeting Jack,  she graduated with a Bachelors from the University of Pittsburgh and then received her Masters from Columbia. She met Jack while working in NYC as a writer. Upon moving to L.A. with Jack as his career transitioned from stage to screen - she and her mother opened "Pan-American House," which specialized in Pre-Columbian and other ethnic antiques and decorative objects. She co-founded the Women's Strike for Peace and soon became very active in the Civil Rights Movement and founded interracial dialogues at Operation Bootstrap. Wallace and Jack were early supporters of LGBT rights and were early members of the Stonewall Democratic Club. Even with her responsibilities as a mother and homemaker, her Civil Rights Causes, and her business - she found time to continue her education she earned a PhD in Speech and Communications. She served as the first woman president of the California Democratic Council and was elected to the L.A. Community College Board of Trustees and then the California State University Board of Trustees. After Jack passed in 1981, Wallace maintained her board appointments and earned her MFA from the American Film Institute. She briefly retired to pursue film production but then became a very active board member and eventual Board Chair of AHF (Aids Healthcare Foundation). She was an active community participant until her death. Throughout her life Wallace enjoyed learning about different cultures and her some reflects the intelligent eclectic personality of he well rounded person she was!

After Jack's death - Wallace purchased a smaller place in West Hollywood. She downsized somewhat - and managed to fill her new home with a wonderful assortment of treasures! There is a fantastic library of books and paper ephemera representing her many interests and causes - her furnishings and accessories are eclectic and interesting with many neat and quality items! Her jewelry, clothing, and personal accessories represent many wonderful designers and world influences...and we have great functional and household items as well!
