GARDEN DISTRICT ESTATE SALE

We’re thrilled to offer an eclectic collection from the Garden District home of Jean Cranmer and Bob Rue. After more than 25 years, Jean and Bob have moved to smaller quarters, leaving for sale a fun mix of vintage modern and antiques, art and sculpture, Oriental rugs and so much more. 

Many will remember Bob Rue’s Sarouk Shop, an Oriental rug emporium on St. Charles Avenue that closed a few years ago. Bob made national headlines post-Katrina after he boarded his shop and painted a message – “Don’t even try, I’m sleepin’ inside with a big dog, an ugly woman, two shotguns, and a claw hammer” on its exterior. Included in this sale is a vast assortment of Bob Rue’s personal collection of ‘outsider art’ marker sketches and drawings on cardboard and paper. Only a handful of Rue’s works have ever been available for purchase – mostly through WYES donated by Rue.
