We are excited to release this fascinating collection: welcome to the Leather District Loft!
Arthur Fleischman loved to explore and learn new skills - without boundaries.
His art collection highlights his ability to dive deep into the greats, like Tom Wesselman's Great American Foot, Olympic Art Poster, 1972, plus a collection of Edition Olympia lithographs promoting the 1972 Summer Olympic Games, signed lower right, dated and numbered including Walter Darby Bannard (American , b. 1934), Alan Davie (Scottish, 1920-2014) and Horst Antes (1936-).
Including lithographs from Leonard Baskin, Jack Levine, Seymour Leichman, Ben Shahn, Abraham Rattner, Earl Krentzin to "The September Pearson's" Poster by John Watson Davis. USA, circa 1899. This color lithograph poster of a ghoulish green naked woman riding a large fearsome sea dragon. It advertises "The Lost Continent", published as a serial story in Pearson's magazine in 1899. Provenance Kennedy Galleries. INC.
Plus a collection of Japanese Anime Cels, Cutey Honey, and Maggie Miu from Read or Die Serial Experiments, toys, ok let's call them figurines, featuring Big Boy, Lain Reine Iwakura figure, and a vintage Mighty Atom Astro Boy figure.
Arthur Fleischman loved to investigate and carefully cultivated a sense of aesthetics based in antiquities, design and fashion to bring a touch of elegance, coherence, and beauty, regardless of his domain.
From the ancient including: Umayyad carved bone fragment, circa 7th-9th century AD, Mesopotamina clay cuneiform tablet, 2nd Millennium BC, Colima Preclassic standing figure, circa 300-100 BC and an Egyptian blue-green glazed Faience Ushabti.
To Mid Century featuring: Herman Miller, Cedric Hartman and Karl Springer
Arthur Fleischman loved to see what was possible. He pushed the limits, from his photography to his jewelry, even in his kitchen.
Featuring a collection of Arthur's photography, from Boston's skyline, to Hawaii, to exotic flowers and women, to abstract digital prints, plus cameras and lenses.
Jewelry, including semiprecious stones, crystals and a jewelry workbench.
And a kitchen featuring everything from chef's knives and Betty Boop's salt and pepper to Baccarat to vintage barware.
And, last but not least, Arthur's love, was an overall obsession for the subversive satire irresistible.
My favorite piece is The Auctioneer, by Joseph Hirsch (American, 1910-1981), the male gaze at the female form, is possessive!
And view Colleen Browning's Lithograph, Mysterious Veils, hung to watch Betty Boop strutting, it's a statement, "each woman is every bit a Boop!"
So I ask...."What is possible?" Come see what's possible!
