Austin Estate Sales
Description & Details
Austin Estate Sales proudly presents a downsizing sale for Austin native Lael Cater Seagert who served as Director of the Laguna Gloria Art Museum from 1961 to 1968. During her tenure at the Museum she collected works from well-known mid century artists, most from Texas, and many of whom are still being celebrated today. This Highland Park West downsizing sale features bold vintage costume jewelry, .925 turquoise and coral, original and signed artwork photography and sculpture by artists such as Michael Frary (1918 - 2005) , Marc Chagal (1887 - 1985), John Grillo (1917 - 2014) , Eddie Arning (1898 - 1993) , Everett Franklin Spruce (1908 - 2002) , Michael Tracy (b.1943) , Charles Umlauf (1911-1994) , Ray Cox (1943 - 2020) , Judy & Owen Cappleman. Some large format prints by the infamous Lee Reynolds, a ltd edition Earl Biss Jr (Native American) on black and white, western art lithography by Olaf Carl Weighorst. We also happily have several of her own framed artworks from the period later in her life where she took up painting in acrylics.
As Lael approaches 98 years of age, she embraces the opportunity to share her appreciation for some of her favorite artists, and for these works in her collection to be seen by new audiences in the years to come.
A word from Joe and Cat- "We look forward to welcoming you to this sweet Highland Park West casita just off Balcones Drive fand behind Hancock drive for a keepsake or treasure for your home.
