Our client was a lifelong Texan who grew up in Dallas. As a U.T. graduate with a PhD in Political Science from the University of Chicago, he was later appointed Assistant Professor at Oberlin college in 1966 and returning to the University of Texas for 4 decades. He was equally devoted to teaching, writing and research which is evidenced in the extensive book collection encompassing a broad range of topics from around the world.
The sale features mid-to late 20th century modern furnishings, hand woven Persian and far Eastern rugs, Frederick Cooper lamps, modernist lighting and decor and a collection of antique and ancient art objects, Buddhas, masks, crafts and textiles. Pieces include an Ekornes leather lounge chair, round oak tables, chrome and glass coffee and end tables, Ethan Allen leather couch, a 1980's mirrored "floating" coffee table, Mission oak desk, Various mod glass and metal tables, teak bookshelves, signed pottery, art glass and abstract art. Modernist sculptures, religious relics, 19th century chromolithography and ethnographic objects with exhaustive histories and provenance are also represented in the sale. You'll find vintage oriental hand woven rugs, books of all genres including signed first editions, coffee table art, hardbacks with dust jackets, Texana, India, birding, botany, fiction, political science, numerous biographies and beautiful cookbooks. The kitchen includes several sets of china, cutlery, crystal, bowls, Corningware, Le Crueset, stemware, sterling, and numerous serving pieces. All manner of high-end stereo equipment and electronics. A very extensive collection of CD's, classical music and opera and many rare boxed sets are available as well as a library of hard to find film titles on DVD and Blu-Ray. Outdoor items include many large glazed pots, hammock and patio furniture
