Coomer is best known for his “washable” serigraph prints depicting urban scenes and patioscapes. He also produced several paintings of Western and Mexican landscapes between the years 1946-1947. Coomer started out working as an illustrator creating drawings for publications such as “Columnists: While We’re Still Around” by Garret Mathews as well as working for the Evansville Courier & Press.
