Sold 133- Very Rare Hudson Bay Unseparated Pair Blanket

Vintage c 1940 - 1955 wool 3 1/2 point extra long wool blanket no tag double the length of a normal blanket fits on bd folded in half. Measures 152” long x 64” wide. Some fraying on the edges , one repair as shown in pictures.

A double long blanket that has not been separated into two singles. Point Blankets were woven on long continuous rolls of about 25 pairs (50 singles) to a bolt. They were separated only at the point of sale during the Antique & Vintage Period. A small nick or cut in the selvage of the blankets was made and the blankets were literally torn apart along the grain. They were also priced "by the pair" until the late 50s / early 60s. Unseparated pairs were particularly useful for campers and other outdoorsmen. By folding the pair in half a simple sleeping bag was created. Unseparated pairs are highly collectible & extremely rare
