Gorgeous African lacquered mahogany sculpture. Top is carved in wavelike pattern, with burned-out cavity that perfectly fits a pillar candle. Bulbous mid-section features leaf pattern. Bottom of the sculpture is most interesting, featuring the heads of three Nguni bulls as the supporting legs of the sculpture. Nguni cattle are known for their fertility and resistance to diseases, being the favorite breed amongst the local Bantu-speaking people of southern Africa (South Africa, Swaziland, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Angola).
