Ended Staffordshire dogs, complementary pair, antique

This complementary pair of antique Staffordshire dogs is in good condition, with craquelure (cracks in the glaze) characteristic of their age plus a little light staining at the top of the heads. They measure 9-1/2"h x 7-1/2"w x 5-1/4"d. Each has black eyebrows, black outlined eyes, a glossy black nose with pink behind, ox blood-color mouth, traced of gilt on the body. Note the low relief molded lock on the collar plus "C"-curve chain in front, typical of the design in the early 19th century.
