A mahogany and part-ebonised console table with lapis lazulae top in French Empire style made by expert European artisans – c 1990.
There is a laminated lapis lazulae top above a Greek key-incised frieze on panther headed monopodia and oblong platforms.
This piece is inspired by early 19th century French neo-classical designs, which were in turn influenced by ancient Greek and Roman patterns. The top of the console is veneered with shards of rare and very beautiful lapis.
This is an exceptionally beautiful piece made by expert European artisans. Reproductions like this one are extremely rare to find.
