Seth Thomas clock was made sometime between 1838 and 1853. (Abit of history)Seth Thomas from Brooks Palmer'sThe Book of American Clocks. August 18,1785-January 29,1859. Son of James and Martha Thomas. Little schooling learned trade of carpentry and joiner at work on Long Wharf,New Haven Conn. Later learned cabinetry making. 1808 at work with Eli Terry on order for 4000 clocks. Later with Silas Hoadley wood 30 hour movements. Moore states firm was called Terry, Thomas and Hoadley. Terry sold interest in1809. Thomas and Hoadley contained sucess. Thomas sold interest to Hoadley in 1813, to Plymouth Hollow 1813; boughtHeman Clark shop a tall cased wood movement clock.
