Veloy Vigil (1931–1997) was a prominent American contemporary artist and master printmaker best known for his Abstract Expressionist interpretations of Native American and Southwestern themes. He is credited with modernizing the perception of Indigenous art by moving away from "naive" representational styles toward a flowing, vibrant, and emotive aesthetic. Vigil's Taos, New Mexico studio has been bursting these past few years with unreleased lithographs, monoprints, and original works - all waiting for this opportunity to emerge into the world.
