BLAIR'S ESTATE SALES

A Special Note Of Welcome From the Family of Mrs. & Senator Ray Albright:

"This is the estate of Former Republican state Sen. Ray Albright, and his wife of over 50 years, Phyllis Longwith Albright. Ray and Phyllis built this home in 1974 and delighted in sharing it with family and friends.

Phyllis worked for North American Royalties as payroll manager for Wheland Foundry for over forty years.  She and Ray were members of First Centenary United Methodist Church where they were instrumental in the development and maintenance of the Memory Garden.  The couple had two children, Susan (Currie) and Chris.  Phyllis was Ray’s staunchest supporter in his endeavors to provide a better life for the citizens of Chattanooga.

Ray’s work was integral in rejuvenating the city of Chattanooga.  Ray spent his life caring for those who were unable to care for themselves. He became involved in politics and won the position of state representative to address the horrendous pollution that hung over Chattanooga, Tenn. He stood against the federal government TNT plant and foundries downtown to say that our citizens’ deserved clean air to breathe. His legislation took Chattanooga from one of the dirtiest cities in which to live to one of the cleanest and became a model for clean air legislation at the national level.

A native of Paint Rock, Ala., Ray grew up poor and learned the value of education.  He graduated from Central High School and Vanderbilt School of Banking. He shaped legislation for 26 years as a vital member of Chattanooga's delegation in the Tennessee General Assembly where he was a staunch supporter of public education. While in the House he sponsored a bill prohibiting discrimination against entrance into schools based on race, creed, religion or national origin. He was appointed by President Richard Nixon to the President's Committee on Environment after sponsoring a bill to require a certain percentage of recycled steel be used in the construction of bridges. He stated his career highpoint was sponsoring the bill that created Chattanooga State Technical College, changing the school from an area vocational high school to a technical community college. The original building at the college, Albright Omniplex, is named for Senator Albright. After serving in the legislature, Senator Albright worked as a lobbyist for Blue Cross, Blue Shield and the Small Schools Districts’ Association, and as a member of the board of Erlanger Hospital. He retired from Union Planters Bank, where he served as vice president."

Blair's Estate Sales is very honored to hold the estate sale of this esteemed family who has served Tennessee and the Chattanooga community for many years.  This peaceful lakefront home is a treasure chest of quality furnishings.  The home contains a beautiful mix of contemporary designs as well as classic styles that would work in almost any home.  The furniture comes from some outstanding makers such as Baker, Stanton, Craftique, Kindel Grand Rapids, and many more great manufacturers.  The selection of upholstered seating is also outstanding with lots of neutral patterns and contemporary designs.  There is also great deal of original art on canvas, including several nice hunt scenes.  The sale also boasts a serene outdoor space that is full of great patio furniture and outdoor decor.  This is a sale that you will not want to miss!
