US Naval History Paintings and Books Auction

This specialty auction sale features paintings, books, ephemera and military artifacts of historical significance, from three local DC metro area estates. The sale features a significant portion of the Charles R. Smith estate (d.2024), former Senior Historian for the U.S. Marine Corps. This estate includes the 1826 hand-written ship's log that helped to inspired Herman Melville in the writing of Moby-Dick.
