A word about Walt Pawlikowski...
A native of Superior, Wisconsin, Walt was a kind and intelligent man with a love for his family and friends and for anything of quality and beauty. He was also a painter and a carpenter. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Superior, a master’s degree in chemistry from University of South Dakota, Purdue, and a Doctorate in Chemistry from Loyola University in Chicago. He worked as an industrial chemist and a research chemist and ultimately worked in Research and Development for 3M, where he patented more than twenty items, including the machinery to make them. Walt was always a buyer of interesting items, but especially after his retirement from 3M in 1994 when he returned to Superior, Wisconsin.
As a lifelong collector, picker and antiques dealer he was well known in the Twin Ports. He had a great eye and he filled many storage units, garages of his own and of family members, as well as his childhood home – a place you've undoubtedly seen on East Second Street in Allouez, covered with antlers, bird houses, ring buoys, flag poles, fencing, ships ropes, drift wood, crates, old outboard motors, statues and what all! Walt's home is past overflowing and it isn't practical or safe to have a sale there. Instead, his family owns the home next door and we've prepared a great sale for you there. We've been systematically moving things into the yard and the garage, as well as into our two tents and into the home -- join us for layer #1 of sale #1!
Walt had a fondness for fishing and in this sale we are selling literally hundreds of individual vintage, antique and collectible fishing lures! There are scores of rods and reels and dozens of tackle boxes - all full! This first sale contains about 20 of the 200+ vintage outboard motors he bought over the years. We are also selling many fishing spears, dozens of fish mounts, antique fish decoys and collectible decoys by artists such as Bob Foster, Dave Perkins and Carl Christensen. There is so much of this category that there's plenty more to sell in each successive sale in 2017.
You'll find several large models of sailing ships, ship instruments, a brass transit, a ships wheel (possibly more than one if we can get at it for this sale), brass bells, ring buoys, heavy rope and an old aluminum and mahogany boat and motor, too.
There's a large section of native American collectibles and art, too, including drums, dolls, beadwork, textiles and birch bark items, just to name a few.
Other items of interest include animal mounts, many antlers, duck decoys, knives, many horse brasses, and three old guns that are wall mount material - more info about these soon, as there may also be other firearms, too. We’re selling some interesting ammo belts and bandoliers, as well.
You’ll find art work including original oils, prints and sculpture, as well as boxes full of framed prints, old photos and post cards. You'll also find stained glass lamps, several clocks and many religious items such as statues, bibles, rosaries and a beautiful Catholic last rites sick call cabinet.
We needed room in the house for smalls and for the checkout so the furniture is out in the tents. You’ll also find loads of hand and power tools out there, and architectural items, enamelware and oil lamps. The yard contains things like primitives, crates, boxes, old stoves, lawn and garden equipment, shabby chic and interesting old windows, including a couple with curved glass from a ship! We even found an old Kawasaki motorcycle!
