If there were 20 stars, I would rate their services a solid 25! Time had come to downsize from my 2400 sq ft family home to 1400. I had whole rooms of furniture. Some exquisite pieces that were handed down from my parents. Clothing, jewelry, kitchen gadgets, beds, linens, bureaus, framed art, cameras, computers, TVs and sound systems. My Personal Estate Sale LLC was recommended by my realtor, Felicia Fosgate of Keller Williams. From my first meeting to the closing of the doors my experience was incredible. Rufus and Jennie are such professionals! When we first met, they shared their mission statement and their goals with me. They explained in detail how every step of the process would unfold. They EXCEEDED my expectations. Our relationship developed into a rewarding experience for me. I was truly happy that my family treasures found new homes. For example, my baby grand piano went to a talented pianist who could make her “sing” better than I ever could. My formal dining room set went to a family who would be able to seat their loved ones at the same time for the first time at Christmas. I had very little to do with the set-up, sale and clean out. Rufus, Jennie and their staff took care of everything personally. My share of the proceeds was available within 48 hours. I was given a detailed list of the items sold with the amount paid. Fantastic group of people!! I am a Realtor and this was my first time getting the pleasure to work with Rufus and Jennie. They helped a client of mine who was moving out of state, recently had become a widow, had so much on his plate and they came in and and crushed it! This was not a very large Estate sale, but they took it very seriously, very professional and it was a great turnout the day of the sale with all the marketing they did. From start to finish, Rufus and his team were wonderful to work with! He and Jennie were so friendly, helpful and conscientious. And - his entire team had the same positive attitude every day they were at our home as they set up for the sale, worked the sale and cleaned up after. They covered every floor surface in our home - even some walls and railings so they wouldn't be damaged as large items were moved out. They even vacuumed after the very few final remnants that didn't sell (and were donated) were out of our home. They priced things well so nearly EVERYTHING was sold! What an amazing experience with this company! I didn't have an 'estate' but wanted to sell all my belongings before moving out of the area. Rufus and had I communicated several times, and today he came to my home. Since we'd communicated already, he said he was just here to give me tools and resources because I could sell my things myself and wouldn't have to pay anyone commission. Since I don't have that much and do have the time, he was right. And WOW did he give me tools and resources!! My husband and I were buying the home where he was having an estate sale. We went, hoping to pick up some of the beautiful items in the home.

I sent Rufus a text telling him we ended up with some of the paperwork he would need for items that were to be sold in the home. He responded quickly and made sure I had the information regarding the sale so I could see items online before the event.

The first thing I noticed in the pictures provided was that plastic was put down to cover the floors. As the new homeowner, I was pleased to see this precaution as I knew many people would be wandering through the home.

When I got to the sale, I was BLOWN AWAY at the detail taken to assure every surface possible was covered in heavy butcher paper to prevent any damage, even the stairwell and handrails.

The prices were fair, and I was able to buy several items. The crew was great and pulling the items I was buying and putting them back in a closed off room, so I didn't have to move them out of the house only to then move them back in later.

The staff was amazing! Although they were being pulled in all different direction and many were trying to get them to help them all at once, they were always polite and friendly. The thing that stood out to me was how each person that entered the sale was greeted, given the staff members name AND asked for their name. Each person was given a friendly, warm welcome.

I ended up spending most of the day there and was able to chat with Rufus. He shared his business model with me, and I found him to be very detailed and thorough.

When we did our final walk through before closing, just a day later, I found the house left perfectly clean. You would have never known an army of people were romping through the entire home.Carla ValetApril 2023

I just wanted to put into words what an incredible experience I had working with Rufus E. Johnson, Jr. and his team. I was given a list of Estate Sale Companies from my real estate company and was so glad I was able to work with Rufus, who did an estate sale at my home so I could downsize from my four-bedroom house to a two-bedroom apartment.

Rufus initially met with me at my home, and I was so impressed with his presentation of how his team would handle the sale of my belongings. First of all, I was so happy that his philosophy was not to stretch out a sale over the course of 3 days, as so many estate sale companies do. He has done the research and his strategy works. His team comes to your house on Tuesday and work the next 3 days staging and pricing the items that will be available for purchase in a one-day sale the following Saturday. Rufus takes pictures of the "Hook" items or what he calls the "Big Rock" items and posts them on the internet with descriptions and prices. He shared with me charts and spreadsheets that back up his successful approach. Nothing is left to chance.

His team of workers are so professional and nice. They take extra care putting floor protectors down and making sure that your home is properly cared for throughout the entire process.

The sale they performed on Saturday was a huge success, as they sold just about everything. Only a few boxes of odds and ends remained. I made much more money than anticipated!!

Rufus insured that my estate sale would be low stress, enjoyable, and successful. I have nothing but kudos for Rufus, his wife Jennie, and their amazing team!

Rufus Johnson and his team did a remarkable job with helping us reach our goal with my mother's estate. The goal? Sell all the stuff and at age 97, mom had soooo much stuff. The purpose of this sale is to sell your stuff, so you don’t have to move it! So, the company was competing with your merchandise. The other thing was stuff was so high it was not selling! This is the best estate sale company in the Kansas City area. My Personal Estate Sale LLC offers rock-bottom pricing starting on Day 1 of each sale, which is the exact opposite pricing strategy compared to their competitors. The difference is night and day.

You can get some amazing deals and it makes for a very fun estate sale experience. Just make sure to arrive bright and early on Day 1 of the sale, as most of good stuff is gone in the first few hours. Be aware that the first hour will be extremely busy and crowded. This company is truly a liquidator, as by the end of Day 2 (the final day of the sale), they typically have sold 90% or more of the items in the house.

Beyond the pricing model, this company is extremely well-managed. The sales are tidy, organized, and thorough. I rarely find an item that has not been marked. The staff is very friendly and will even help carry items outside. They usually have several employees working checkout lines and they do accept debit and credit. The owners of the company, Rufus and Jenny, are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They take the time to try to get to know their customers on a first-name basis. I am an obsessed and totally faithful to my personal estate sale. I don't bother going to any other estate sales any longer. Jenny and Ruffus are up and coming to put all these other companies to shame. Everything they price is very reasonable. I like that if you follow them on Facebook you can look at pictures of every item in the sale. My fiance and I have a storage unit full of beautiful furniture for our retirement home we are building. My Personal Estate LLCC handled my mother's estate sale after her recent death. We had a good experience with Jennie and Rufus. My brother and I are both full time working professionals and My Estate Sales made it very easy for us. After we removed the items that were sentimental and valuable to us My Personal Estate came in and did everything from start to finish. They went through all of the items in the 3 story house, prepared them for showing, priced them, staged them and documented what was sold and for how much. They cleaned the house both before and after the sale. The unused / unsold items were donated to charity and this was all taken care of by My Personal Estate. All of the trash was removed from the house and taken away in a dumpster. I really like this estate sale company. I first attended a sale and realized it was the last day. Almost everything had been sold. I was disappointed until a lovely young woman handed me a bag and said it was "bagtastic" day. Anything I could put in the bag was a single price for the whole bag. They had consolidated what was left into a large room. There I found a tuxedo in my husband's size, an Italian suit, a sport coat, and several silk blouses and dresses for my daughter.

Since then I've been hooked. I follow several Estate sale companies and this company is one of the best in the KC area. Polite staff, pricing is fair (not inflated) when you arrive, and the houses are neat and staged well. Definitely recommend them to other estate sale addicts like me.
