Walker Estate Sales evolved from my 16 years of conducting estate sales in Mississippi, predominately in Noxubee, Lowndes, Winston, Clay and Oktibbeha Counties. The business first operated as an offspring of my antique shop in historic downtown Macon. Old Bank Antiques and Collectibles was located in the old Merchants and Farmers Bank Building and locals just referred to it as the "old bank"! As the business grew I took on a partner and changed the name from Old Bank Antiques and Collectibles Estate Sales to Beard and Walker Estate Sales. When Covid changed the world and everything in it, I began to have estate sales solo.....thus the new name, Walker Estate Sales, LLC.
On a personal note...... I live in Macon, MS which is close to Columbus, Starkville, and West Point. I graduated from Mississippi State University and have a B.S. degree, a Master's degree, a Specialist degree and a Ph. D. I spent over 30 years in education....teaching business and computer classes until I went into administration and was the Vice President of Academics for East Mississippi Community College. In this role I had the responsibility for all academic students and teachers at the Golden Triangle Campus, Scooba Campus, Meridian Naval Air Station, and the Columbus Air Force Base. As a result of my work at CAFB I was honored to be named an Honorary Commander of Columbus Air Force Base.
I retired at the early age of 51 from EMCC and opened my long dreamed of antique shop and got my real estate license becoming a Broker at the end of the first year. The estate sale business developed because I was selling houses where the owners needed to liquidate the contents because of a death in the family, downsizing, or moving. Having been a lover of antiques and collectibles my entire life, I frequented every auction and estate sale for miles around and had developed a knowledge of antiques/collectibles and their market value. Additionally, I have sold antiques/collectibles at antique malls for over 30 years and currently have several booths at Maw Maw's Antique Mall in West Point.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 49 years. Ricky is an attorney, having graduated from Mississippi State where he played football and the Ole Miss Law School. He currently has a private law practice in Macon and is the City Attorney and City Prosecutor also having served as the County Prosecutor for over 28 years. We have 2 grown daughters. Our daughter, Carol, and her husband John Nance, live in Saltillo and have 2 boys, Walker and Hayes. Our other daughter, Loraine, lives in Starkville and is the Children's Librarian at the Starkville Public Library.
Walker Estate Sales guarantees to handle your estate sale as if we were having it for our own mother. We are sensitive to family issues and dynamics if you are having a sale following the death of a loved one. We also know that moving or downsizing is super stressful. We can take that weight off of your shoulders by stepping in and handling everything. Our mission is to arrange and display the items for sale in such a way that they bring top dollar. To us, presentation is everything! Take a look at the photos we post for every sale....we get many positive comments on the way our pictures look for every sale.... large or small! Again, presentation is everything! The better it looks.....the more money you make!
Please call us for a free consulation about conducting your sale. If you need to sell the real estate we can handle that too. We operate as Southern Land and Home, LLC and are a member of the Greater Golden Triangle Real Estate Multiple Listing Group. In fact, we have actually sold numerous houses while conducting the sale there! We have "instant" property lookers when someone comes to the estate sale!
Looking forward to seeing you and hopefully assisting you with an estate sale!
