EDM Estate Sales Review

With the recent death of my mother’s husband and her hospitalization and long recovery due to a serious fall, our family was overwhelmed with the necessary steps we needed to do to settle their estate. They lived on remote rural property in Vernonia, OR in a huge funky shop/barn full of stuff with living quarters built on top. They managed to add even more stuff to the prior owner’s collection during their 22 years in their home.

In order to fund my mother’s care, selling the property and getting rid of the stuff became a priority, but what were we to do? Friends that had experienced the same ordeal suggested hiring an estate sale company. I turned to estatesales.net and posted our plight – believing there was no way anyone would want to take on our case in remote Vernonia. Lo and behold, Jeramie Eidem of EDM Estates Sales was the first person to contact me. He quickly made time to meet me at my folk’s property to see what he was up against. I also interviewed a few other estate sale companies, but Jeramie seemed to be the only person that was truly professional, pragmatic and level-headed about what we could expect if we chose his company to run our estate sale.

Jeramie had several other advertised sales in the works. I was able to go to one of his sales that was near my home in Portland. I was impressed to see how well advertised the sale was with directional signage and the sale he was running was well ordered, organized and efficient. It didn’t take long to make up my mind and I hired EDM on the spot.

Despite having several other estate sales in the works, Jeramie was able to start organizing our sale almost immediately. Probably one of the most challenging sales for EDM Estate Sales to undertake, the location is so remote that Internet access to run credit card transactions was a big problem. I had inadvertently cancelled my folk’s StarLink Internet several weeks prior; however, Jeramie managed to befriend and convince a nearby neighbor to give access to their Wi-Fi for the sale. He thoroughly advertised the sale, so there were lots of customers. He was flexible in that we needed to retain a big mower to maintain the property. But, I have promised he can sell the mower, once the property is sold as it is a big ticket item.

The other big challenge was my folk’s huge travel trailer that had been abandoned and sitting behind the house for over 15 years. To no avail, I tried for months to get rid of that trailer. Miracle of all miracles, Jeramie found a taker for the trailer, and had it promptly removed from the property. In addition to all the items he sold, EDM loaded up two huge dumpsters full of garbage and unusable stuff and had it hauled away. He kindly put aside personal family items for us to sort through just in case we wanted to save anything. The place is now completely cleaned out and empty. It’s just unbelievable! We just can’t thank Jeramie and his crew enough. “When Integrity Matters” is what EDM is all about – no kidding.
