James Chillington, a landscape and still-life painter, draws inspiration from the rich diversity of nature. His plein air paintings capture the dynamic essence of the natural world, portraying its ever-changing beauty. Using a palette knife to layer oil paint thickly on canvas, Chillington conveys a distinctive perception of each scene, shaped by his personal experience. His work has been exhibited at prominent venues acros78hs Connecticut, including The Virginia Barrett Gallery in Greenwich, the Silvermine Guild Arts Center in New Canaan, and International Fiduciary, Inc. in Stamford. Additionally, his pieces are part of several public and private collections. Chillington honed his craft through studies at the University of Connecticut, the Silvermine School of Art, and the Carving Studio in West Rutland, Vermont. He currently resides and works in Newtown, Connecticut.
